ok, so i just dug out my firebird, and since im gonna be driving it this summer, i want to throw my new stuff in it, especially since im getting it around the same time the cars going on the road, so this may be a newbish question but its the first box i am going to build, i just helped with the one in my truck....so does the shape of the box make a diffrence at all, i have taken the measurements and designed the box, but im not possitive it will work...also i dont know wat frequency i should tune it to, or how to do that for that matter, i would use a slot port....the total internal volume, after subtracting the wood thickness is 6.2540358ft3....heres a drawing of the box for the aproximate idea, because the var has a weird layout because of the hatchback, will this box work fine?....
the equipment im using is a fusion Fjl-1511 and the amp im gonna be using is a clarion DPX1001.1....so i geuss i jut was wondering if the box will work, and wat size will the port need to be, if one of u guys could figure it out, or tell me how to figure it out, that would be great...thanx
oh, and im just dumping this equipment into my car until september wen i get my suburban, thats wat this stuff is really for...so dont recomend changing the sub, unless its to a better 15...thanx
also, does this setup have any chance of comming close to/and or winning an spl comp?....i was thinking of entering one around, just to see wat i pull out...thanx...

^ It may be close. When I did my Z28 I got 3cuftnet out of just the well and it appears he is going on top of the tank as well, right to the back seat..
I'm not familiar with the equipment so I have no idea how well that will work. I have found over the years that you get very good results from a pair of 10s in a baffle board on the 'shelf' down in the well and it is easy to do too.

I found going the baffle board route a much better choice also.
I had a Firebird GTA that I built as a SQ car but it still did good SPL numbers as I used it as a shop demo car as well. I used two Boston Acoustics 12.4LF's with 700rms to the pair (sealed enclosure). It would do 144.* on the old mic of that era.
Mat I still have a 2x12 baffle board if you want it seeing as you're in Oshawa also.

hey man, thanx for the offer on the board, but the thing is i really dont have any extra cash to play with, im still in high school and im doing an apprenticeship on the side....i would go 2 12's because it really seems like a lot less work, but when i pick up my new truck in september im planning on putting my 15 in it, i have a box built for that one already, plus i wanna do something sorta unique....would this box design work theoretically?, and also can someone please tell me how to figure out the port please, and thanx again on the offer for the board
