Anyone worked on the current style Ram pick-up (3500)? Is there an easy place to stuff a power wire through the firewall? I haven't looked yet, but it is on my list of things to do tomorrow, so I thought I would ask first.

Those are easy, big factory grommet on the drivers side.

 

if its an automatic there is a 2" diameter plastic cap where the clutch assembly would have been, also the hood release cable grommet is large anough for 4awg

OK, second question, what wire harness do I need to install an aftermarket CD player? The truck is an 05 Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 Laramie w/ the Infinity soundsystem (6 disk in dash CD player). I have no idea if it has an outboard amplifier or if it is built into the desk. I have a regular Chrysler harness, and it looks right, but I was told from another shop it wasn't...Any ideas? There is one plug on the back of the CD player, and the antenna jack, nothing else...

 

unless you are changing the entire system leave the factory head in there.

the infin system is a 7 speaker system with center channel, the amp is a horrible pain in the *** to access and the harness to bypass it is 70 bucks or so.

If you're adding subs, just go high level off the front or rear speakers.

 

I am doing a full blown system, so all stock gear will be bypassed.

The harness seemes to have worked, the deck fired up and I will be using the pre outs, so I think I am good to go. For some reason there were 2 black (ground) wires on the harness, and two orange wires on the harness. I soldered the pairs together to the deck leads, and it seemed to have worked. I still need to rig up something for the parking brake, I removed the footpedal all together, so Im going to need an actuator of some sort...
