JL Audio 13W7 Subwoofer Review
A decade to remember:
When it comes to subwoofers, JL Audio has one of the most popular and recognizable names in the industry; and with their W7 line reaching the decade marker this year, it is only fitting that we test their flagship status 13W7. This should serve as a great reference point for subwoofer enthusiasts; we're often asked how does one particular sub compare to another. Now with this review in our archives readers will be able to make some comparisons. So as JL Audio gets ready to launch their tenth anniversary 13W7, we wanted to confirm for ourselves―does the legendary name live up to the hype?
Well I knew this test could not have been performed on my test bench because I wanted a real world evaluation in a vehicle, so I enlisted my go-to subwoofer guy, CJ Morse from Rolling Thunder. Of course CJ and I have listened to the 13W7 before, but we have never run it through its paces for sound quality, in addition to any readings on my meter. Now was the time.
Before we begin though, I would recommend consumers to read the instruction manual prior to installation or fabrication because JL Audio has made it simple with very easy to follow step by step instructions and great information both technical and non-technical alike. A DIYer or weekend warrior could make a great system with the simple steps provided by the company. Even professionals should use good judgment and read before installation.

I bought a 13w7 with the huge JL box that goes with it. It sucked! It was as sloppy like a fat chick. Overly expensive marketing ploy that I fell for. I traded it in for a DD 3510 that blew it away!
The W6 is a completely different story. Unbelievable sq sub and a lot cheaper!

I completely agree with the above. I sold car audio for a year and JL Audio is one of the brands we carried. We retailed the 13 W7 at $1399.99!! Ridiculous right? I think so. The W6 I find is much smoother in terms of response and blends in with speakers much better. The W7 has its own voice, and you don't want a subwoofer to have that. It's a great sub no doubt, but if you want quality sound the W6 is the way to go for JL subs.

Wow, I was actually about to buy these ones... I didn't know it's bad, basically a couple of friends of mine have the same subwoofers and they said they were fine. And by the way the price isn't that high at all. Anyway, thank you guys for sharing the information, I'll probably look for sth else
