Multi batteries with a solenoid setup!
When running more then one battery, say 2 or 3, I have heard I should use a SOLDENIOD to prevent the back battery or batteries from being drain by the front battery.
Should I be using a solenoid setup? Does anyone use a solenoid or a battery isolator/regulator?
One more fast question, the more runs I have going off of the front battery will require more solenoids? Correct?
thanks for your time
Kenneth
p/s here is a little diagram of how I think it should be setup, if this is incorrect please let me know!
Sorry I am not a very good at making picture with paint, the bottom right hand corner are suppose to be 2 Kinetik HC2400 batteries hooked in parallel, and yes I didn't include a returning negative wire from the 2400s to the front battery!

umm i think you can avoid using a soleniod if you use 2 of the same batteries! rather then mixing and matching!! but then again soleniod only cost about 30-50 plus shipping for a 200amp soleniod...wiat a second i think i should be using a 300amp soleniod...o boy! lol!

o wow i jsut found a 300amp soleniod for like 7usd lol! but they are out of stock! crap!

K... I wont be using the same batteries... I know a guy who recycles them and i get batteries for 40 CAD each.... I never thought of using solenoid... again just thinking theoretically, if the one battery can drain the other - wont be just simpler to instal a relay between two batteries and have them disconnected when you leave the vehicle? Just a thought.

Well I agree solenoid works like a relay, but only for high current and one way (you need some minimum current to turn it on- that might be the rating on it- not sure), but is this necessary in hooking up an additional battery? and shouldn't the relay be in serial connection with a solenoid? since its useless otherwise? (and running a "returning ground to the first battery"? (isn't grounding it to the frame better?)
edit: If we are referring to solenoid switch (like starter switch), not a solenoid itself which is just a coil of wire.

the only reason why i run a second wire from the back battery to the front battery(the ground wire) is b/c that is what kinetik recommends! but they also recommend using 2 of the same batteries.
i believe and this coudl be wrong if you have the same batteries you don't need a soleniod, but if you have say a mastercrap and a kinetik (2 different batteries) you need to use a soleniod set up!
you asked shouldn't the relay be in serial connection with the soleniod?... isn't that how it is in the diagram?
HU->relay->soleniod->back batteries
the relay is there to TURN on the soleniod when the HU turns on.
is that what you were asking or did i miss my guess? if i did sorry!
