Canadian General Car Audio Discussion Discussion of the car audio scene in Canada. Post event listings within.

Are any shops in the GTA looking' to have serious representation in Db Drag in 2007?

Speaking of a dead car audio community how can someone like me know where the events are located and when? I would love to attend a competition to see how it is, maybe even try out and compete, but how would I know about an upcoming event?

I can't say the car audio industry is dying yet. Vehicle manufactures are never going to put good sounding sterios into their cars/trucks. And at least for the next few years we'll have a lot of factory ipod/satellite radio/bluetooth integrations. ****, I haven't even been doing many remote starts this winter it's been all audio still.............weird

Is it true, that to succeed in an SPL competition, the enclosure is the biggest factor that you need to pay attention to?

If that is true, you need to come up with your own enclosures right?

So its not like I thought, where people with the most money, buy the most expensive stuff and win these competitions

I don’t think the scene is dead by any means. What i think will happen is most event coordinators will move away from print media, get more into the grass roots environment and promote within the scene and online. They will reach more people than with their print promotions.

As a promoter, to tell the same guys over and over about your shows is hardly going outside the box, you will have the same 15 guys showing up at your shows and they will suck. I’ve seen it this past summer!

Look at kankar and concepts, they teamed up and did some online campaigning and their shows rocked. Look at selective sound's show, same deal. Kicked *** actually!

Then compare to some of the others that were word of mouth or little to no online promotion.

Car audio is only going to grow.

But Prolifik in your position, what do you expect. Hard core spl'rs like you do what it takes to get the job done. Huge boxes, purpose built spl cars etc. In this day and age i believe people want an all in one setup. A system where they can cruise and bump to and one that hits decent numbers. Doesn’t mean its dead, means it needs to embrace new people. CCA has a reputation for not being so kind to “newbs”, is it any wonder that the scene struggles ?

So, expecting an answer to your question in 1 hour Prolifik that was so vague was setting yourself up for no reply. Selective replied, contact Davis. He is totally a stand up guy.

Fozzz is right. There’s logistics, time and money. If I had the time, I would organize an official event. Don’t have it.
Soooo....
Prolifik, would you and Chris B like to organize an official CCA event to be held at Selective Sounds ? I’m sure I can coax Davis.

Peter i did answer his question, in a pm.

you guys need to read between the lines in my initial post. Only one person asked "why".......everyone else.......im not sure what u are doin in this thread. i give props to the guy who "offered" his car for a project vehicle, u were quicker than everyone else.

everyone says car audio industry isn't dead, yet same people are full of ideas of how we should "bring it back to life". now let's wait and see who does what.
