pretty bad showing... I think there were more show'n'shine demo cars then splers....weather was poor, but it tried to be sunny, dissapointing turnout tho.

the good things were 1)I think everyone went home with a trophy, 2)free hot dogs and pop was given out, 3)they gave away gift certificates to those that drove far, 4) event was over early enough for those travelling to get a good start on the road, 5)everyone there was polite and eager to learn.

don't think I'll be back though unless there is some gauranteed interest next time. It was a long trip, and the fact we had to replace all our equipment before we left didn't help matters any. To go through all that and find such a dissapointing turnout is like getting a kick in the nads.....I hope that calgary can spark more interest in the future

Defro

It was a total gong show. Unless you drove into the parking lot and were within 30 metres of it, you had no idea there was a show going on! It reminded me of the old tweak and tune days. There were some who could have MAYBE made it out, but from what I understand, these guys are doing work in there driveways, and summer is showing up very late here. Most of the guys I talked with were saying they will be trying to get it done for the end of summer let alone last weekend. Weather was breezy with clouds and sunny breaks with cooler temps. The other guys who could have come just bawked and whined with one reason or another why they weren't going.

It looked like a store was doing a promotional event with 7-10 demo cars out front!

A gong show for sure! If it was the real "Gong Show", I would have been swinging away!!

BRUTAL!

Who are the regular db draggers in alberta? Where were all the regular bc competitors at, why didnt they all go to this event? Maybe the alberta guys didnt come because they were all replacing the engines they blew up to go to the last show in bc? Has anyone tried driving a vehicle that doesnt have a engine that works around the city of calgary? Im sure that can be difficult as most people in this city have hard enough time driving at the best of times with fully functioning vehicles.

I feel bad for the judges and participants who commited to put in a showing. Lots of work to travel and prep for it to end up like that.

Couldnt make it sorry guys. We just spent $7200 in engine repairs from the last show, so we had no vechicle to go, couldnt even borrow one for the day. This is the first dbdrag we missed in this area since we started competting!!!
The A-Team blew up his engine from the last show and was putting a new one in the same weekend too.

Well lets see why, clay blew 4 subs and didn't have time to get a new loading wall in or recones, kyle's van isn't even close to being ready, the twins didn't have a truck to tow their trailer, and I couldn't make the show.

Edit: Looks like everyone else summed it up

He got the new engine in over the weekend. I think by sunday night it was good to go.
Man, Castlegar took a toll on all us who went, will re-think that drive next year......
