Custom Install Plans
hello all,
i currently have a 99 Sunfire 5 speed, and im thinking i would like to customize my trunk a little more so it looks neater.
right now i have 2 alpine Type E's 10" and a Sony 1400W amp
a Top of the line kenwood deck, a complete install within the cab.
i am starting to draw up some plans to intergrate 2 more 10" subs within the mix, all of the Subs being in a sealed Box.
i would like to creat it so my trunk is acting like a Box, i would to make it ported up above the sub box, porting it directly into the Cab, any ideas?

i dont want to do 2 12" because 1, the box will be too big for my trunk, and 2 with 2 12"
creates 24" of surface area, now if i can co-ord 4 10" i get almost double the about of surface area, the way im going to have it set up is 1 box is going to house 2 10" subs, and then behiend the wheel wells im going to have a singe 10" there on both sides of the trunk.
all three boxes are sealed, and that is why, i would like to make it all ported out of the trunk.

with the size that i have seen, there wouldent be much space left, a sunfire's trunk isnt that big, there actually rather small concidering. so i wouldent leave much space. and sealed boxes are big enough, and ported boxes are bigger than sealed. and i also dont need more power for the subs, the alpine type E's are low powered subs, i have noticed i have way better sound with the same power compared to 2 10" sony Xplodes.
they were loud as it was but i find alpine to be mukch louder and clearer

You haven't really posted your goals for your system, but if you are looking to upgrade your low end I would listen to kyleorsini and get a properly powered subwoofer in an optimal ported enclosure. Surface area is only one part of the equation. Just so you know, a single 15" has almost as much surface area as three 10" drivers.....
yes i agree, but wouldent i get more of a bump from Seal compared to ported, i listin to Rap and Rock.
my goal, is to somehow make a full wooden enclosure to make the trunk look nice, but when i close the trunk, to make the trunk a ported system while having all of thesubs in Sealed boxes making it a bandbypass......

yeah i know, what i am going for is uniqueness, i unfortunatly know my idea compared to a ported will not sound that different BUTwhat i wish to accomplish is to slow the frequncy of the sound of the subs down enough that way when i play "i put on" by young jezzy the bass will be a lower frequncy then what is supposed to be played, creating a 40Hz sound; sound like a 20-30Hz sound.... and 100Hz sound like 50-60Hz
Dude sell ur stuff, buy a mach 5 spl get a amp hifonics amp since it seems ur on a budget 2.5cube box tuned to 38 hz and call it a day. Ditch your type e's and ur amp thàt is crap and like somoen said will probly be clipping at high volume, and you jußt won't be happy. Do it right the first time, we all regret it, thàts what the forums are for
