I think that the only people who would disagree with the bikini contest are people that have poor self-images and want to blame other people for their problems. Honestly if you don't want to see the bikini contest then don't watch it. If someone wouldn't allow their husband to attend a show because it had a bikini contest that person must have very low self esteem and I feel sorry for them. Now I will agree that taking a break from the show in order to have the bikini contest is kind of dumb but hey, they have to give these girls prize money and if the competition was going on at the same time then it wouldn't be worth the prize money they are giving the girls (which is usually more then the money that is given to all of the compeitiors combined)

First of all if it's a self image issue or not it is still competitors not competing. I personally disagree that it is a self image problem as I have gone to several shows that have these competitions however I go to the shows for the fact that I want to show off my car and compete not flash my *****. Sound offs are for cars and I totally disagree on trying to promote it by advertising half naked women. Secondly people are always complaining about the bad rep that car audio always gets( ie noise polution laws)and stuff like bikini contests at a sound off don't help the impression that people who make the laws have. And finally maybe some of the guys who want to shoot their mouths off about self image have their own self image problems as they rather have girls in bikins then competing against them. (Too scared to have a girl kick their ***)

I think it's great when girls compete, expecially when they place well!

Actually thats where you are wrong, a bikini contest is contestants competing. One thing to keep in mind is that they are different events sharing common ground, if you don't like it, don't watch it.

Also you are unfortunatley involved in a male dominating activity, so a bikini contest for this kind of event only attracts more attention which in turn is good word of mouth advertising for the supporters of the event.

Remember that famous line: SEX SELLS

LOL
And there is the typical male mentallity! J/K Obviously you must be one of those guys who is to scared to get your butt kicked in a sound off by a girl haha!
I know SEX Sells but I have also heard guys constantly complain why is there no girls on the board, how come they don't compete blaa blaa blaa these are all reasons. Furthermore in response to what you said about this is a male dominated sport that was my point it shouldn't be and wouldn't be if there wasn't so many little perverts in car audio. As I said before I havn't and won't stop going to competitions so for the ones out there that are scared to compete against a girl watch out!

yo, if you wanna get right down to it, the main demographic for car audio, is probobly male 18 28 yrs old, and thats that, what do men aged 18 -28 want???? T & A! its that simple, look at wresteling! If you want to go out and change the world, your gonna have a big task, from car shows to truck shows, to just about anything in the automotive industry.

The cold hard facts are that men, want cool, fast, generally hard riding nitro burning race cars! Cars that are often too loud for any sane person, cars that could be seen in a video game, we are attracted to loud flashy things (men hunt) and MOST women want a smooth riding quiet "gets me to work" Mini Van or Station Wagon. (Women nest) not to generalize, but, im sure there are a few exceptions either way, but facts are facts-

If, girls and girls alone were they only ones who wanted to buy car audio, (or even had a serious market share) then the subs and mids would be pink and purple with little frilly things on them, and would be really easy to clean, but you MRS.AUDIO and other females like you, are few and far between,(sadly) so... basically, if you like cool cars, you better start liking the female body too, cuz in this line of work, your gonna find lots of it.

As I can see I am in the minority, but I have to agree...I want to goto a car audio competition to compete in car audio. Not see a bikini contest, don't get me wrong, bikini contests have their place, ie a bikini contest, not a car audio contest, not at a race track or at a show 'n' shine. It would be awesome to see more women compete, but I can totally see why.

Some of the guys say, "well don't watch it" well why should the women have to avoid, why can't we go one day without it???

Something to think about I hope..

As for me I would go to comps but I'm way to busy, people who know me know why. As for bikini contests there is nothing wrong with them at all. Cars and girls just seem to go hand and hand.
