Bigger following? Yes and no. More numbers yes. Bigger promotion shows and Kick backs. Then yes.
For most because of there population and closeness to each other they get the pie not just a part of it. Every thing out side there borders is just non important unless they can get something from it.
Most all the gear comes from the U.S. of course they control the show. If we want to participate we must pay a premiume price whatever is demanded.
So bigger following of course but mostly because the ease to get product at much lesser cost and more events well because they can and will. More product for your $$ more events to gather info and points, you do the math.

Steve just explained it, the gear comes from the states because they are ten times larger than us.
its the same reason there are 3 major car companies in the united states and none here... we cant afford it.
there are ways to get gear cheap in canada, just dont let the tax man catch it coming over the border.

if ur too cheap to pay a maximum of 13% tax on your gear you really shouldnt be competing to begin with.
Tax or no tax look at the bigger picture. I'll tell you an long story that will be relavent sorta.
2002 I was entering the learning/ competative DB arena. I did kinda ok with an SQ system against the heavy db guys. Again being into Memphis gear I find out the I can aply and be rewarded by the Memphis people for my acomlishments. Cool a new shirt and stickers. I was ignored in 2002. Ok I was lost in the shuffle. 2003 I learned of IASCA and James and start my learning curve in SQ my true love. I do much better and more than qualify to become an Memphis member again. I was again flat out ignored. Now I did go to Finals in 03 and placed well enough to get a little atention. Then and only then, posibly that I had the sweetest little car on the floor did they take notice and I made an conection/ pulled a favior. But why I'm not born or live in the U.S. Befor the U.S. guy yell at me I did marry an Californian and love you guys. But the writtings on the wall.
The sponsers are much more generios in the U.S. and they should be it's there family. I had the privilage to do events in the U.S. kinda like diferent rules. Hell my amp that I use now in DB drags was an gift when I was down there.
Yes our government shelters us an cuts us out of that loop. More competators mean more sales=better rates. For you dealers in Canada my hats of to you. Making an living an keeping our fun alive. It's cheeper do do our thing down south end of story.
