audiovault had a $500 for first 250 for second 150 for third and 50 for fourth.
and plauqes.
1000 per class all classes, but we were not fortunate to see you at that one.
money obviously was not an incentive joe. but it would be nie to see your car there as a demo.

Wagonized - I remember the thrill and uncertainty of entering my first show. You just have to dive in and do it though - and after the show try to track down your judging team and ask how you can improve your ride. Most guys are happy to offer suggestions.
As for the rest of the nonsense this thread has turned into - Tim and Dave have the right attitude. They do what they can to have a fun, positive show that doesn't bankrupt them. And, really, nobody ever gives them enough credit for going through the effort either. Way to go guys - many people appreciate your efforts
Cash prizes are a mixed bag - they may bring out a couple of hard hitters that would otherwise stay home but really they won't bring in the average competitor who realizes they probably won't take home the big money. If one wanted to play this angle I would suggest a prize for Best SQ, Best Install, and Best of Show - and stipulate that one person can only win one of the three even if they should win more.
Demo Cars - ah yes, I remember those... Where have they gone these days? And why don't Reps have demo worthy cars anymore? Some of the nicest cars used to be the Rep cars. What changed?

I will admit that cash rocks, we used to get cash for top five wins at IASCA finals up until I think 99.
In 97 I got $5k US for my World title in SQ+ and $3500 US for my third in SQ..............it didn't cover the expenses of the year but it was hella nice

That is the reason I decided to do something in my own car. I have a 2003 Audi A4 & have installed a moderate 5.1 system in it with two monitors (in-dash 7" & trunk lid 8"), front/rear components, centre channel, two 12" subs & three amplifiers. The install isn't "show class" but I felt it necessary to have something that sounds good that can showcase Pioneer/Premier products. I would've liked to have a "show class" install but the budget just isn't there (from either Pioneer or myself).
Because the exterior of the car is bone stock, it doesn't get the attention at the shows I've attended as many customers cars are more extravagant than mine both inside & out.
I attended an event every weekend of August (Visions - Kelowna, Audio Video Unlimited - Richmond & Abbotsford & Axis Audio/Boyz Audio - Vancouver). In all of these shows combined, there were only three other corporate "demo" cars in attendance.
I guess the bottom line is that spectators expect to see what they see in magazines & on TV when they hear "factory demo cars in attendance" & are perhaps dissapointed by the outcome in most cases. I've done what I can to support my retailers (and other retailers in some cases) & that's all I can do.

True dat. $25k payout for winning the Masters Invitational, winning new cars as prizes like Wayne Harris did in 1984 or even getting a new Corvette as a 'signing bonus' for him going to a different shop. Those won't come around again....but they don't need to. IMO, cash prizes aren't a big deal. I don't even remember the JB's shows we used to enter in Edmonton ever having cash prizes. The USAC show last weekend I think was the first ever I had competed in that offered cash and until Dave mentioned after the show that he forgot bring it up, I would have never thought of it. Sure, winning a few bucks is nice to pay for dinner and gas. That doesn't decide for me whether to enter or not. The hopes of taking home a 7 ft. trophy helps though

i was at the western canada finals, and all i can say is that after competing for the past 15 yrs this was one of the best show that i have attended!! well run, organized, fair, lots to see and do, and for me had some nice cars from the reps, nice cars from the sq boys..... and by the way NOT ONE sq guy said "no you cant listen to my car". that i liked, and tons of great spl numbers to watch. dave had some excelent prizes which keep everyone there interested, james, our man on da mic, did a hell of a 8 hr job, and got us all out of there by 730pm and for first we got a hell of a big trophy and money!!! for me that speaks volumes. well done dave. well done. and thanks for the hospitality at all the shows that we attended together and my lovely wife says thank you as well.
