Smile I need to get decent speakers and have them installed but where do I go?

Hey guys
I have a 2000 Corolla and I just installed a Sony CDX-GT630UI head unit myself. I am now looking for speakers. All I want is 2 decent pairs of speakers that produce enough bass to enjoy songs. I am not looking for woofers. My price range for 4 speakers is $200 + really cheap installation.

I have been told by some people that I need an amp. But if I get an amp it will cost a lot more, which is above my budget. What do you guys think? if you had that budget what would you get?

So far I have looked at only Bestbuy and Futureshop. I found Alpine 6.5" Speakers (SPS-600)
www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0926INGFS10098228&logon=&lan gid=EN
What do you guys think about these speakers? are these decent? better than the stock? (well I'm hoping that anything aftermarket in better than stock lol).

Now I live in Brampton/Mississauga so I need a place where I can get 4 speakers installed for the cheapest price available.

Bestbuy told me they charge $45 for front speakers and $60 for rear speakers. So Bestbuy Installation of 4 speakers: $105+ tax

I would really appreciate any help
thanks

I'd spend the entire budget on front 6.5" speakers. I'd bet you'd be pleased with $200 co-axial speakers for the front, instead of $120 fronts, and $80 rears. Let's not forget that the money you'd spend on rear speaker install can be money put towards better front speakers. Then you'd have $250 to spend on a decent pair of fronts.

Go audition speakers in that price range. But ensure that they're only being powered by the head-unit.

http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=SPR-17C <<< Link to TypeR Coaxials. You may be able to find these for the $250 mark.

Email East Hamilton Radio, and see how much they sell them for.

Really depends on the type of bass your looking for. If you want just a bit more then you already have from your stock speakers, then going with a really solid pair of front coaxial speakers would do the trick. If you want to "feel" the bass, and have some subs sitting in your truck, then you have to purchase an amp to power the subwoofers. Check out the car audio for sale forum, their is always some great deals in there, for both subs (sometimes in a box already good to go) and amps. A lot of the dealers registered to these forums are extremely well versed in the car audio world, and im sure would be more then happy to help you with a solution.

I found out that Bestbuy has SPR-17C for $169.99

by the what is the main difference between SPS-600 and SPR-17C? How much sound difference is there?
Here is the comparison between these two, copy and paste it in browser:
www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/compare/compare.asp?comPage=catprodlist&page=0&catid=20114 &sort=3&logon=&langid=EN

So you're saying it's better to get a pair of SPR-17C for the front than to get 2 pairs of SPS-600 (or any other) for front and back?

I don't know how to explain this, subwoofer's bass is really umm loud and heavy, whereas what I'm looking for is bass but it doesn't need to be as heavy as what subs produce.

Like for example you know when you crank up the bass on stock speakers you feel the loud noise (not bass) but the vibration of the noise. I don't want that, I want actual bass but it doesn't need to be heavy bass, like I don't want people outside my car hear/feel the bass.

I hope you get the idea of what I'm getting at lol

ok guys, people have told me to get an amp to get the full benefit of the speakers.

How much would it cost to get decent speakers and an amp installed in the GTA? final question. Nothing more than $400 -/+$20-$30

I would really appreciate the input on this. I would also like to thank you all for contributing

I have a 5 channel amp you can have for $40. Kenwood KAC959. I don't use it any more since it was producing an alternator whine. One of the RCA input terminals had a bad ground, apparently. The shop soldered on a little jumper wire, which only alleviated it. You might not experience the same issue...

You could use this one for the time being, until you can afford a better amp.

http://www.shopping.com/xPF-Kenwood-KAC-959 <<< Link to amp info.

40W x 4 @ 4 ohm, 120W x 1 @ 4 ohm. I'm not sure what an amp install is these days. Its been a while. lol But if the wiring is of decent quality for this amp's install, then replacing it with a new/better amp down the road will only require a few minutes time.

You'll get cleaner, tighter bass out of 6.5" speakers by supplying them more power. Your Sony unit is probably only sending out 15W per speaker.
