Hey Mike, just out of curiousity... you ever integrated anything that runs an HD Audio Codec into a system? I got an opportunity to get one of these:

https://store.mp3car.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=SDK%2D014&Click=141 36

Just wondering...

Jordy - no I have not - the only thing I have ever done in this vain is used an outboard D/A Converter (Coustic Design Reference) off the digital out from my deck

Riddle me this -- why don't any of these manufactors with "digital" amps make cd players that can send a digital signal to these "digital" amps? I always thought that would eliminate noise/crosstalk/phasing problems.... just a thought

Like Alpines theatre amps that have essentially a pxa-h701 built in?

Yeah no doubt - like some sort of proprietary plug that carries signal (perhaps balanced even) between the deck and the amp. Further to that, why not then simplify the wiring even more (and eliminate ground loops) and have the deck get it's power from that amp connection too. It would be new and revolutionary!! We could call it DIN or something

www.mp3car.com

the online store has a product called an Infill T3 it's a flip-out double din Car PC... although it's not a Double-DIN like the G4, the specs on the T3 show it having a SPDIF Optical OUTPUT.....
...now pair this up with a Clarion 5.1 processor ..... which incideantally HAS an optical INPUT and all you need is to but an Audio Control DQXS like SOMEONE I know has... and Charlie's yer Aunt and Bob's yer Uncle....

I didn't see level controls on the Clarion piece hence the need for the DQXS.
...spoke too soon... Hot Damn! it does

http://www.speedsound.com/product.asp?specific=jnenpqdoo

This is the link^^^^^^^ for the Clarion DVH-940 DSP

...wonder how hard it would be to install an optical out on the G4...
..is it just a matter of soldering one in.... what do you think Dukk?
Because it also has an Intel HD Audio Processor...say hello to 8.1?
