What is this SQI thing and do I need speakers other than subwoofers to do it? Because if so I can't compete my car has no regular speakers

as long as what you do have is installed properly, you'll get some of the points :)

jalat 03-27-2009 03:10 PM

I've wanted to sit in an SQ car all my life...
I might have to drive out to this event to fullfill my dream

bart pyle 03-27-2009 04:23 PM

im there for dbdrag and iasca! way too close to home to miss out on.....like 5 min away!

icebird88 03-27-2009 04:49 PM

Hey everyone.

SQI is the format IASCA runs that judges both sound and install. Its nothing special as its the same format that has been used for year.

Sound Solution is venturing into new territory here by sponsoring the registration fees of the SQ competitors and I thank them very much. I will always keep working on making the my shows bigger and better every time and I would like to think one day I can get DB fees pd to.

But the future is in your hands. Big turnouts mean more bargaining power for me and IASCA when looking for sponsors. I am trying my damnest to bring IASCA back to the good old glory days and I will need each and everyone of your support if I am going to make that happen.

Father Yuli 03-27-2009 05:14 PM

Seriously, that's what its turning into.
I got 1 day off because there's an event at the beginning of the month ...
I happen to take a Sunday off (Easter) because my family wants to see me, that's fine ...
Now there's ANOTHER event in the same month.

Oh well, we gotta do what we gotta do.

Im definatley in as well, wouldnt miss a free show for the world!

DeadlySones 04-07-2009 06:13 AM

Lindsay, Ontario, Ah. Hmmm, man I'd love to at least show up and check out the comp. I've had systems for 15 years and never competed.

My van has a fairly good SQ setup ... I have no idea what it puts out for SPL. It gets pretty loud but still clear.

I'm gonna try to plan on getting out there to meet you guys. Even if I don't compete this time, I'd like to see how things work. I'm in Windsor so it's a haul but well worth it. Any cost to spectators?

Hell, maybe I'll have to enter something just for the sake of finding out what my systems really is capable of. It's on Sunday, April 26th, right? That still gives me some time to get everything back in. I just ripped everything out last weekend, gave the enclosure a new paint job and got it back in last night. Should have some sound out of it today? Still have lighting, amp covers and stuff left to do.

I looked at the Bass Race rules that everyone was pasting for others to understand and I'm still not understanding the concept completely. Is it the first to hit and stay at 129.9, 139.9? Then again, as someone said in a previous thread, "you guys can take my money", it'll be worth the experience. :)

I'll update in a couple days to see if I'm comp. ready .... Yea, who am I joking ... comp ready .... not even close, BUT CAN'T WAIT!! :D

Anyone have tips for this NEWBIE?? I wouldn't mind trying SQ and Bassrace. My system was completely built by me, but it looks pretty good. There is no fiberglass panels or nothing, but you can't see any wires or screws.

Thanks guys,
My name is Paul a.k.a Guam! :smokin:

DeadlySones 04-07-2009 06:35 AM

Could someone please link me the contest info, rules, etc. for SQI and Bass Race. What are they judging in SQI? What do I need to do for Bass Race? Find a tune that I can hit say 129.9 as fast as possible and stay there? Does someone have a meter that will help me out before the comp so I know if I'm on the right track. I see that some of you guys even bought your own Term Lab meters?? I don't even know if I can hit 129.9 or 139.9. I'd like to think it will.... 129.9 ... that's not that loud ....

Thanks again,
Guam
