Just a thought for points chasers

I know the summer isnt even over yet but just planning ahead and I think us points chasers should get together over the fall/winter/spring and do some 1x dbdrag events to keep the scene alive. Typically there are no competitions from October until the beginning of May....Thats a 7 month layover which in my opinion is not necessary at all. Our climate isnt that horrible that 7 months of the year our competition cars are not driveable I dont think.

A 1x dbdrag is extremely cheap to put on and can be put on by any dbdrag member who has a termlab. IMO trophies arent even really necessary...small competitions like this will just keep people burping. The veterans can see each other over winter and discuss upcoming ideas and the newcomers dont have to wait 7 months to test theyre newest gear/ideas.

What we want to avoid is for newcomers to get hooked into the competition scene from great events like the Penticton show that just put on and have the urge to compete but then only have the ability to do so twice more before the season is laid off until the following May.

Venue would be the only problem but if we planned ahead a bit it shouldnt be too difficult to setup.

This will keep the competitors working on the offseason whether it be on their dedicated competition vehicles or throwing some sort of setup in their winter beater/other car. Either way that will farther support the 12 volt industry which is what we're after all-in-all.

That is a really good Idea... But what happens when it get -30??? I know that foam surrounds don't like the cold and have a tendency to rip a part..
If the show could be held indoors that is one hell of a good idea.. But then we would be looking at more $$$.. But if you can get it organized I would love to come out.
Keep the SPL bug alive all year... lol

not many places in bc where it gets to minus 30...but if it does then obviously thats not SPL weather. The surrounds would be fine unless ur using super old school real foam like HT speakers had. Maybe then the layover is down to 6 weeks or so during winter but theres no need for a 7 month layover that we have here in lower mainland BC.

Us westerners wonder why the eastern guys are so much louder and have more cars over 150...perhaps thats a main reason? They dont have over half the year to get side tracked by other hobbies..theyre constantly working, designing and testing.

If I was closer to BC I would be all in for helpin the cause out dustin, but -30 in sask aint that cold LOL theres times where wind makes ir -40 to -50 LOL -30 is almost like summerLOL. It would be a great idea, the east does do many different things that the west does not and thats why they are able to beat us in most classes I think!
