I think I saw you drive past me about 20 mins ago in burnaby on 10th. Atomic sticker on the back, "Absolute Car Audio" on the side window, black dodge calibre i think

 

hahah yeah thats me the car is steel blue but in anything other then direct light it looks black.

and no there isnt SQ its just dB drag... as far as i know...

 

yes it will be stricly DB drag at this event but in the parking lot there will be show and shine cars as well.

 

Ah shity, consider doing one SQ category.. no install just whichever car sounds best. Barely takes up any extra time but will bring out some SQ cars as well.

 

yeah but we would need the metering stuff for it thats the problem..... and a judge... though i do agree it would bring out more cars...

 

won't need any of that. i'm not saying a sanctioned event because those i know take time and money i'm saying making up your own rules. just plain and simple "what sounds good to norm" or whoever wants to do the judging. All you do is just sit in a car, play your favorite track, then go sit in another car play the same track and repeat for all the cars in sq.

Car that sounds best wins. No metering or "official" judges just plain and simple, what sounds best. You can take install somewhat into consideration. Not an official sanctioned sq event, just a single category sq with your own rules and your own judging to what works the best and easiest. Only extra cost would be one extra trophy and some time from whoever wants to play judge that day but you'd get plenty of sq cars and it would pay itself off in no time.

 

actually id be good for this... im as hell about sq... and have good ears for it... (ive been in live performance music for more years then i can remember... well okay 17yrs but whatever) which is odd seeing as how i drive with an SPL box every day and stock front stage hahahah...

but it is a good idea... and yeah take cleanliness of install into consideration... then just charge a smaller reg fee... id be up for judging it thats for sure... but norm is the boss and its his show so its up to him in the end... and it could just be a free for all.... for fun right just whatever sounds best to the ear and looks good or has some unique things to it.... we could hammer together a judging system of some sort... but i dont know... norm will read this and ill also throw it by him tomorrow and see what he says...

I understand the want for it... shows are hard to come by around here... and it would be nice to have something for you guys as well

 

Yea, talk to norm about it and see what he says. If there's no SQ, there's not much incentive for any SQ cars to come by. It's like having SPL cars come to a all SQ show....

Having one SQ category would not only bring in you in some revenue (unlike some db drag categories with just one or two competitors in it) but bring out a lot of nice looking cars with a lot of nice installs

 

yeah i agree if we just free for all it then any one sq can come by and its just what sounds best to the ear not a meter... so it would put a different spin on things right... just like daily driver boxs often sound super loud but then they dont hit the meter worth a crap... so it would be neat i think and it would be nice to have some really neat looking installs as opposed to all the bare mdf and duct tape that go into spl.

 

it also atracts spectators to a show who come to see the trick and custom installs that you get with alot of the sq cars and in turn it can bring future clients into your shop if you are holding the event at your shops location.
