Merry BassMas Winter Show RESULTS
I'm hoping more people put up what they liked and disliked about the whole thing ... I'm pretty sure that's what's going to help FUTURE shows, isn't it?
I liked that there was food available however I didn't like how it "presented" itself. There was maybe a few "Food's here" while competitors were competing and that was about it. I guess due to the setup (I don't even know what the food LOOKED like) and the fact that it's winter time (so less room to out) it would have been nice to just stop, take a 20 minute break or so for everyone to eat or to break ...
Put it this way. I was willing to purchase a meal ticket to get some food but since everything was still on, I skipped the food and didn't eat.
Obviously we would have liked more room so that everyone could see the score screens and so that competitors could get in and out as quickly and efficiently as possible but again, weather permitting I'd say that all went very smoothly, hats off to those scoring and keeping the competitors moving. Who's up and who was up next so that there wasn't a huge stoppage.
I'm one of these guys everyone on the board hates. I'd rather not compete in an attempt to blow up my system only to lose to someone who's going to annihilate me ... maybe it's because I'm still young, maybe it's because I'm still inexperienced, but my system right now is all I've got and if I crack this or burn that, it's a problem for me. I'll stop complaining before I punch myself here, but you guys always ask "Well why?" and I'm just putting up a realistic concern from someone like me.
I can say this was my first experience with a bass race live and I'd agree with the feeling at show, it was entertaining and exciting to see. At least watching this, it gave me the feeling like "Wow, I should be in there - right now" ...
The flipside is I'm sure a lot of people are going wow, what a pointless competition but the thing is, if it's going to bring people in, raise some funds for the event, then WHY NOT ...
I liked seeing all the trophy's for the winners ...
Again, I'll mention that I liked the pace of the show. I think we had a signifcant amount going on and it didn't take TOO long for everything to wrap up but honestly by the end of it, my legs felt it ...
There was a lot of guys willing to help out as well, which was nice to see ...
Other than that, I can't say much us ... overall, I was really happy with the show, glad I showed up and anticipate another one when it comes up.

next time bring a lawn chair so your legs dont feel it.
Like I said, overall I was happy with the whole thing.
Question: Can Ontario hold a car-audio show that's more show than just an event? The plans to have an audio section at Darknights flopped last minute last year, I'm just wondering if anyone or any company has this vision for our province?
like he said it happens all the time, for some reason not many car audio people come out to these ones tho. Which is sad. These typacally are multi point events as well.
had a number of these last year around the GTA and Hamilton, but only with, at best, a "so-so" turn out as far as car audio portion went.
99% of these events were put on by either private individuals (like someone from this forum) or a single shop.
the issue for many car audio guys becomes that:
1. large scale event carries an expensive entrance fee. $50++ depending on how many things you want to enter like Db Drag, Bass Race, CSPL etc. Main reason is obviously the overhead involved - rent of space, power/electricity, sanction fees, judges, trophies, promotion, etc.
2. events like these attract local and almost local heavy hitting competitors. Many guys understand they will not be placing 1st or not even in top 3 of their class. They dont wanna pay $50-60-70-80 bux just to get beaten by 5-15 db's. So they dont even bother entering.
I can almost guarantee you, the car audio competitor turn out was so poor last year at these types of events, that none of these shows broke even as far as the car audio competition portion of it went.
Dont blame me tho, I entered every single one of them. Blame the total lack of manufacturer support.

these sorts of events last year had maximum turn out of about 20 car audio competitors. which is very poor, as you need at least 35-40 entries to make it worth while for the promoters and show hosts.
