some of the md kids i've met are boners. md proves you can read a book and watch someone else install something. 4 hours for an alarm is not really a feat by any means. i'd have to agree with dave. take the 6 grand, buy some killer tools and suck up to some shops. unless you have deep pockets and money means nothing then by all means rock up md man

Well, other tough thing to think about is how many shops are there out there where kid can learn something truly worthwhile from someone that actually knows something .........and/or is willing to actually share it ?!!?!?!?? Sweeping the floor in one pass doesn't count as a valuable lesson. How about them senior installer people giving up their tricks of the trade ...... generally speaking?!?!?!? 
Two more quick thoughts..........
A few of us were standing around recently talking about where we would send a car if a high end competition system needed to be built or just a high end quality SQ system anywhere in Canada. Crickets in the building had more to say. There are a few places, but they are far and few between.
I think MD is a VERY good starting point for someone wanting to gain knowledge in a controlled environment. There are people there to actually TEACH you about the industry and installing. When you leave, you should be walking away with more confidense then when you arrived........ but hopefully not an inflated ego and thinking you are invincable as that a HUGE mistake. Just like any career in the real world, experience in the can't be taught easily. You need to be out there. BUT....... but you also need to start somewhere with the right tools/knowledge. Hello MD. I for one am glad they exist.
BTW, do they have a course there for killing off egos ?!?!??!?!? EGO Killing 101. I think that should be added to their list of courses and it should be manditory for everyone!!!

The main problem is that alot of MD grads think they are now installers, and alot of shops that hire MD grads think they are hiring installers. Someone fresh out of MD needs basically the same amount of training in the real world as someone who never took MD, and that is where it all goes wrong. Would I hire an MD graduate? Sure. Would I hire someone who never attended MD? Sure. You can't base your hiring on an 8 week course, but you can't outright discount it either.

But that comes down to the person you are hiring, not the course they are teaching. The very first thing I said was:
"Mobile Dynamics is an excellent way to break in to the industry, but you don't come out of the course a seasoned veteran, only experience and time can make you that."
If a shop owner thinks that 8 weeks experience is enough to make someone an installer, then he's the one with the problem.
MD is what it is, and has survived and flourished for longer than most of you have known about car audio. It's another tool in the industries arsenal, and we'd be much worse off without it.

They could have a give away and I still wouldnt attend and many reasons why. First of there the ****iest people and think they are better then others and there not. Second my friend took the class and still cant wire up $hit if his life depende on it.Third why would I support someone that hung up on me when i called them regarding the show that we are having and its not even because the money thing I wanted them to bring there cars so people would see there work its always crowded around there both at a show. Last but not least they should be the first people to support any show because there custom work would mean nothing if people like us werent intrested in this industry there would be no next generation attending there school. This is just my 2 cents I would rather go to Fish Camp and learn basics on costum or learn from shop owners before I would consider Md more real world applications.
