i know it's kinda early, but i was just wondering who and when is gonna be the next db drag show in AB or BC? i'm nowhere near ready for next season, but i just wanna get a time frame idea so that i can start planning out the rest of the "off" season.

(i know there is no real "off" season for any TRUE dbdragger, but i do have a life outside of my car stereo - no offence intended to anyone. he he he)

why don't we try and start ASAP this year with a couple of "relaxed" 1x'ers to get back into the swing of things...

Team Shadow 01-17-2005 01:02 PM

most likley may ish. maybe someone will have a show in the snow in ab.

Dale buddy if u have a show im there 100 percent and im not just sayin that cause my car is in your shop....lol

GrizZz 01-20-2005 08:54 PM

K, I'm willing to host a show... I have no idea how though. Got a judge? I see Xiph can't make it...

How much would it cost me? Like, I assume the host ponies up for the trophies (they are pretty cheap though), get the wife to make a veggie plate, that kinda thing, right? The $20 that eveyone gets charged, does some of that go to pay these costs, or is it just stuffing someone's pocket?

Equipment? Awning, tables, the SPL mike system, etc...

umm.... Do we need permits of some sort?

Damn I haven't even BEGUN to design let alone build a new SQL box for the van... still running everything the same as last season... So we'd have to have a beer/tune night the night before at the shop too... Time has been an issue with the new baby & new condo & all...

Oh, I haven't bought a DbDrag membership yet, something I didn't do last year and would like to this year. Do I gotta do it through the website or can a shop or judge sell me a membership?

When? Sure wouldn't want it when it's super cold, like last week, and even this week with the warmer weather, there's so much snow on the street out front (good ol' City of Calgary rarely, if ever, plows our street) that we couldn't do it right now...

It's do-able though. I guess I need to "do lunch" with someone in the know?

Thumper89 01-20-2005 10:14 PM

Hear that James....We have a possible host!!

Whatcha say??

Can we have a show??

And what can the rest of us do to make it happen and make it go smoother?

I'm in headfirst myself!!I don't know about anyone else...any free time(haha)I have, just say the word and I'm there to help!!

WE...ERR...I WANT A SHOW!!

Xiph0id 01-20-2005 10:31 PM

I might not be able to compete but I could help run the show if needed. Aww heck I'm might compete too.

Grizzz Hit me up with a PM.

Thumper89 01-22-2005 06:52 AM

Hey...If this "Show in the Snow" idea doesnt pan out, who would be up for just having a get together where u chip in $XX and just spend an afternoon testing, tuning, and just having some fun?

I know I would be up for it...I've got a heap load of testing to do myself...

jimmyslide 01-22-2005 12:32 PM

I'd be up for that...get some tips from the masters and try to share a few I that I have. Can only be a win win situation really. Let's do it!!!

GrizZz 01-22-2005 03:06 PM

Ya I can offer up my shop for test & tunes... Soemthing I've been meaning to do anyway, but just haven't had the time. I'm very thankful that December is done and gone finally, was uber-busy month for me.

But, I'm finding my groove again. Instead of sugar-plums & Xmas tress, my head is now filled with visions of sub boxes, head units (mine's out for warranty service yet again, FIFTH time, they're getting me a new one), and Power Wheels.

Chipping in $XX shouldn't even be necessary, it's my shop, doesn't cost me nothing to hang out after work for a few evenings. The only time you'd need to chip in is if you use some shop supplies (wire, cable, connectors, etc).

Speaking of which... What's available at my shop for test & tunes: We're not a stereo shop, we're an auto repair shop with an electrical specialty. So I stock batteries, starters, alternators, wire, welding cable, crimp connectors for wire, solder/crimp connectors for cable, shrink tube, terminals, cell phone accessories, ALL batteries you could ever ask for (cell, cordless, camcorder, watches, electronics, medical, seismic, etc. etc, everything except laptops, which I can get, sometimes). We have 3 bays, 2 hoists (I sublease the other 3 bays to a general mechanic, so it's full o' cars and engines and stuff) that we can use for the T&T. If we're building boxes (duh...), we'll have to cut the wood outside to keep the dust off everything, we could setup some horses for sawing right out front, or in the parking lot to the side.

Anyway (I'm babbling again aren't I...), why don't we have a T&T next weekend, we can get together for a few cold ones, discuss me holding the show in the snow, and get a system going, something like "every third Friday of a given month" or "every other weekend" or whatever. Friday or Saturday nights work for me, and the shop is closed Sundays, so we can use Sundays to spill into for big Sat. night jobs.

So let's see.... Test & tune Friday, Jan. 28th, 5:30pm till whenever. BYOB (the Blue Bays liquor store & car wash is across the alley, a 30 second walk), there's a pop machine in the shop too. Anyone who wishes to show, please do so, no RSVP necessary. Whoever shows, shows. If no one shows, I'll just play on the shop computer for the evening ;) For location/directions, see www.allstart.net

Edit: Oh, I have little woodworking tools. Like, a hammer, and an old handsaw, that's about it. So if you're planning to work with wood this T&T, someone's gonna have to bring some woodworking tools please.

Vanilla Gorilla 01-24-2005 08:44 PM

Hey, I'm totally game. I have no idea whatsoever of how I can be of a help, but if I can, just ask, hit me up with a PM somebody. I'll push as many buttons as I can. It sure is warm here in Calgary, now would be a great time. Hey, if Im going to get my ass handed to me on a silver platter by Rob or Aaron, now is just as good of a time as any. (jokes) I'd love to help out.

Thumper89 01-24-2005 10:05 PM

Now that the date has been changed to Saturday,I will most likely be able to make it now...YEAH!!

Graham,I don't think this will be so much "who's louder" but more of a "Lets see where we stand,Lets get some resonent freq's down and get a baseline of where we need to go this season"...

And if we happen to do a couple head to head's so much the better to have some fun...

Come one....Come all....I personally can't wait!!

Vanilla Gorilla 01-26-2005 07:24 PM

AWESOME!!!! where is this going to be held at? I cant wait to go!!! I'd love to meet the faces behind the names. SO many cool people that I want to see
