I came into the IASCA scene more in the mid-late 90's. Most of the shows hit were in Alberta. At the time is was in a red 90 Cavalier. Back then is was all Kicker power with Solo 8's. Clarion head and Audio Control Procesing. MB-Quart front end in kicks.
The subs and amp were in the back dash with the front amps in the back seat side pannels. EQL in the floor up front and kicks.
Took it to finals in 97. Finished somthing like 18 of 20. Just going was enough reward for me.
I toured around with that other crazy guy from Sask with that silly green Neon with all the PPI stuff. What ever happened to that guy anyway?

I heard Ken bought a Civic like mine the year after and did very well two or three years after that. I should have kept compteing - those were the early days of car audio competitions when new things were being tried on a weekly basis. Ken was a really good guy from what I remember.
DUKK! For crying out loud, I remember your vehicle. Not you, thank god, but the car I do. I won our zone in 90 and went to Tempe. I judged at a few events in 91. After that, I disappeared. Sound Oddysey folded and there was no place to hang out.
Good thing I have Timmy's lair to hang out at these days.
My first show I ever competed at was in 91, Valley Sound Odyessy held their show at a pub on the other side of Hwy 1. I had 4 15" Kickers, 4 10" Kickers for midbass, a whole door of Quart mids and tweets...............Sony indash tape, Sony indash CD, Sony 10 disc and GOBS of PPI power..........I took second beating the car that had won all the shows before that (Kevin Chan with his GN) and lost by 1 point to a Corrado................I had no EQ and I got a 3 on RTA (it was a little bass heavy) right after that show I took out 2 15's and 2 10's.......bought a EQ and I won the rest of the year...............

Very cool to hear the old war stores
I started competing in 1992 when I was 16 turning 17. 81 GMC Jimmy, 2wd, red with a white top. Had Alpine head, amps and xover and Rockford speakers. Competed with Dukk at the JB's shows in Edmonton including events at their Mayfield store and the indoor shows at the Agricom. Those were fun days of competing. Tons of cars, all sorts of gear. Ken had his Dodge Charger then with the Sony amps, then switched over to his Civic. At one show we even did an on-site complete install in the Jimmy. Took 3rd place too
I remember the GN with the Soundstream gear including an SS15 running free-air in the trunk flanked by two SS10s in pexi boxes and a neon Soundstream sign in the trunk lid. Did a couple of shows in North Battleford, SK and spectated at one in Calgary at the Back Alley. Funny: two years ago we attended a wedding in Calgary and stayed across the street from where that soundoff was held. I reminded Dukk of that. Brought back memories. I remember some BC guys coming out for the Edmonton shows, including Greg's red NX2000 that 2001 had built.
After that I competed with my Mustang GT from 1993 to 1996. Only got to a couple of Edmonton shows with it before moving out to BC in 1994 and we did a whole new system in 1995. Shows were sorta on the decline then and I only got to a couple of Haney Sewing and Sound shows with it before selling the car in 1997 for my new Avenger. That car I competed with in Edmonton in 97 at a JB's show and cleaned up, and it was it's debut show! No eq either. 34 on RTA scoring. Wades Neon was there as was Vern's SuperCoupe. Tom Callender's CRX, which was a sound-off veteran. After that, just one show in Portland and Surrey Visions in 98.

Not sure what Ken was driving before the civic. I do know it was almost a 3 year build, done by the boys at Audio Concepts in Calgary. Thats when JT was working the shop as head installer I think?
Sux getting old man, I can hardly remember any of the attended events. Remember a few tickets for lewd behaviour, public drunkeness. Which was BS. The buggers carried my bed out of the hotel and put it in the front of the parking lot.

Mugen1 - you remember my Z28? whoa
Hopefully it was after I put in the RF gear cuz the first system was cheezy
Randy - I remember all those guys but I don't remember your Lynx
My very first show in Edmonton, ShaneM was head judge and crapped on me for booming during the show. My redemption was that I beat him in RTA
