That is such a shame, but this should be posted in General Discussion. I am from the west, and just took a look at it and I totally agree with the manufacturers not giving the actual industry their support. It is the local businesses that do all the work here, and the reps get the credit.

i cannot not speak for everyone but here goes, my 2 cents. It is frustrating to not get distributor support. but here are 2 things to think about.

1) should you be on a forum bashing them for not supporting you. You want thier support and you are criticising them for not supporting you in the way you want them to. I too put on shows and i too find it difficult to get support somtimes but it is a fact that darknights,SCN,DTP, Audiothunder and Importfest draws a much bigger crowd. and it is about sales. Ive seen triple events with 10-20 cars and barely a few spectators. and ive seen non sanctioned shows with 60+ cars and hundreds of spectators. but in the end there is no hard feeling or whining that the support was not what is expected. seeing your post on here would not make a manuf change thier mind about your show.
picture this. if manuf/dist dealer doesnt support you and you complain publically, then what is to keep you from bashing them if they support you only a little bit(not to your standard). you are obviously frustrated, but clubbing them over the head for not helping you , is exactly that, it is not helping you.

2)i work at a distributor. and i have been around the show scene for a few years. My boss actually mentioned your show to me. we wanted to get involved with your show. But my company doesnt support shows. it supports dealers. we got your info package a long time ago and there has not been a follow up, nor a call to see about support. you may or may have not done a follow up, but it has not reached the proper people. i heard your name and NOTB show about 2 months ago. all the decision on show support are made at the end of the year or begining of the year(dec/jan). you cant expect large companies to just change thier laid out budget to accomodate a big show.i already know what shows my company is doing next year. and it is only july.
so back to the lack of follow up each monday i ask, has anyone stepped forward to ask for support on this show, and i get a no. If no dealers ask for support for your show, how are we to get involved out of the blue. all it takes i one company to ask for support and we are there to support. none have asked. so you need to step it up and follow up with dealers one by one to see about getting support. I want to goto your show, i was already told that if the dealer asked for it, im ther to support. but i cant book a flight and bring out the show gear until some dealers ask for our support.

I did not post this to get a reaction from you. I posted it cause i think that you should change your method of trying to get support. call them, dont bash them on line. i want for your show to do well. and to become a yearly thing where a triple iasca dn db drag happens. Id even make efforts to come compete , all th way from here in Vancouver. Thanks for putting on a show. No one said that it would be easy.
Good Luck

Not to sound like I'm advertising but Future Shop and Best buy will only host shows at events like that now, unlike a few years ago where they had their own league.

I only hope that independant car audio retailers and true audio freaks will keep on having the shows whether or not the company reps give their support. It's always nice when the reps do give support.

i don't have much to say but i would certainly have to agree with what u had to say for the most part. it seems like it is pulling teath to get a shirt now adays. lol. however i don't personaly have a lot to complain about seeing as how there is good support from our dealers! witch is awesome to see for a change. once again i deffinatly sympathise, but like pat said as well is it the dealers that are to blame or has car lost a lot of its luster to the tunners?! the best question is how do we gain it back though. how do you exite an indistry that is beating it's self down so hard with always tring to be cheeping. a bit of an up hill battle if u ask me!

I think what will fix this the orginisations IASCA and dB Drag making classes that people that can't afford to spend 10 000 $ to be competitive like for instance what they are doing with the OSPL league. I have only been in it since last year but i hear story's from the the ones who have been doing spl for some time know the way the rules are set to be competitive to day u have no choice but to buy the big amps and strong subs where if we make it where people that only have 600W amp and subs that can only handle 300W a place to play we will get more of them at shows.
