Resident Carpenters?
Hey guys,
I was hoping there was a carpenter, or cabinet maker on the forums. I know there was one, can't recall his user name at the moment.
What I'm hoping is that someone with access to a nice table saw (or a CNC machine thing for wood) can cut the six sides of my speaker box, and the cradle I'm going to use to secure is to the trunk. Then I'll put everything together.
Willing to pay, of course.

So I sent an email to a very local cabinet making shop. For 3/4" MDF, pieces cut for a 18x15x12 box, they've quoted $50. The only thing is that one side of the wood has white melamine... I don't have a lot of experience with this stuff, but the panels I usually see with a melamine surface is usually A LOT more porous than the MDF we'd use to make a subwoofer enclosure. Is there a chance that this material will be as dense as "regular" MDF?
By my calculations, I'm using 8.35sqft of material.
Any thoughts? $50 seems pretty steep for only the material and the cuts. Having the edges cut with this rabbet joint will cost $30 more.

I'm not even certain they'd use CNC to do the work...
Why would CNC cost more? Punch the numbers into a computer and let it do the work.
It's much faster. Sure the equipment cost the shop a lot, but the work they provide from it shouldn't.
Its a moot point now. I talked to one of our maintenance guys and work, he said he'd help me out for a case of beer.
