I can give all my equipment to my girlfriend and she would be a amature/newb competitor doing over 150 in street class on her first ever burp in her first ever competition. so how long u do it or how loud u get doesnt count.
an amature competitor is not a competitor to begin with. just a regular guy with a regular day to day beater system. Richard is trying to make shows for the shop's customers, guys who are interested to see wha they hit and maybe have a little competition amongs each other....not guys who are looking to get smoked by one of us, regardless of how long we have been doin it.
i define a pro competitor as someone who puts their heart and soul into their boom and db's, regardless if they just started (like Dan) or have been doin it for the last 6 + years (like Richard). I believe it is the level of experiance and knowledge of spl that separates the pros from true amatures. and something like that is very hard to determine from one person by other. For example, there is a guy on my street who has 2 15 inch subs and is very loud for daily driving, he competed here and there and back in the day i thougth his system was invincible.........now i smoke him with 1 12.
He's been into it for longer than i have.....does that make him a pro competitor ??? does it mean im still an amature compeitor or does he become amature and i become pro b/c now im louder?
My point is......we all know what we can do with our systems and we all know our level of experiance and knowledge of SPL. So lets be honest and not say that we are amatures b/c we just started to compete meanwhile we know that our level of knowledge and spl is WAY more than a regular customer with 2 Alpine 12's. Otherwise, if you know your shiit YOU ARE NOT AN AMATURE.

Hats off to you as well Richard, keep up the great work! It's a great concept and I wish nothing but success with your venture.
Tom, you silly SQ guy, that's not ghay! It worked at the Autossey event between Jimmy and Frankie, why not with Yuli's system? And Yuli, where do I get one of Team Canada SPL - Yuli helmets?

That is the most sense I have heard from Yuli in years. I don't want to single anyone out but you have to understandthat the customers competing at these shows have a 200-500 watt amp on a pair of 12's or 10's and they are hitting 142 on the old system. The highest score is 149-151. One customer has 1 18" and the other has 2 15's. The rest are doing 140-145 db with 12's. The scores are really close and everyone is having fun. If I had 1 person posting 155 with 1 0r 2 12's and slaughter everyone how many people do you think will compete next time and get there butt kicked. Very few. I keep the cost down to $15 and I have 1-2 shows a week so these customers can hang and have a little fun with the meter. I am trying to keep the hobby alive with the average customer that is still upgrading him system. It is alot to do with the sales that are generate at the shows that the store owners like. Most of the big hitters chasing DB Drag and Iasca points already have 1 or 2 2000 watt amps and big subs that are not avaible in most stores. These competitors are most likely not going to spend any money on equipment in the near future. Do you see where I am coming from?
I'm just curious why you would post this at all on CCA. IT's pretty clear that none of us are amateurs, and if you only wanted ppl to go that buy stuff from those stores then they would know about it already?
I wasn't meaning it to be rude I'm just saying.
I've obviously not a great one, I still need to learn lots.
The point I was trying to make was initially I thought ya, cool, some shows, and if I didn't read the rest of the posts I would end up being that person who goes there and smokes everyone then feel like an idiot. lol that's all.
