ok I agree with tim and think no fuse of some kind is nuts, obviously you've never seen a main power wire short out before
but it's your car so it's up to you ............ now if I was not gonna run a fuse I'd aleast have some kind of disconnect switch on there so you can quickly cut the power if an emergency arises
as for insurance ......... you're from manitoba right .that means you can't purchase additonal stereo coverage from MPI on an older car so insurance is capped at 1000 dollars for the stereo gear should it burn up ......

I agree with Martin... thats the way to do it man...They way i see it, the less money you spend on fuses the more you can spend on more power wire = no voltage drop
