Tools For fresh starter

Hey Guys,

I am wondering what you all might suggest for a tool set for somebody brand new. Will most places require me to have my own tools and such or will they provide?

Thanks gang

maybe you should find that out from your new employer?

Maybe I should rephrase here:

1) Is it standard for Installers to have their own tools?
2) What does a basic tool kit include for a novice installer?

Killer_klown187 I am not yet employed by a shop and am simply posing the question. What is your experience with the above?

WOW seriously? I had anticipated a longer list. ha ha

What about shops though? Can I expect them to provide other tools?

maybe some saws, drills, various bits, ford stereo removal tools(coat hangers), lets seee, and a crapload of screwdrivers with various lengths.

ok now i am confused, that string of tools could go for both my comments...

Can I assume this is what the shop should have?

For a novice installer, I'll start with a set of basic screw drivers, a drill, wire strippers, wire crimpers, soldering iron, a couple different sizes of pliers, door crank tool, "panel popper", small set of picks, and a coat hanger. You can generally get done what you need to get done with those tools.

I have yet to find a shop that provides hand tools of any kind. Replacement of stolen/broken tools yes, but not startup. I would recommend saving for a copy of Term Lab and a meter, as well as a 'scope, but that is in your future my friend lol
