The VRX line is really gorgeous sounding stuff. Their expansion modules are useful and well thought-out. I only ever dealt with the company directly through Italy, but I've got to say, they're the finest, most gracious people in the industry. The amps are hugely expensive due to the value of the Euro, compared to the Canadian $. Currently 1 Euro is worth approx C$1.60.
The chrome shadow finish demands cotton-gloves when installing. And yes, the controls (all accessible from the TOP of the amp) are concealed beneath a nicely polished, black walnut strip that has an illuminated plexi logo, with remote, protection and clip indicators.
The VRX series replaced the VR series. The limited edition amp was/is a dual mono, 100 watt per channel, .5 ohm stable beauty called the HR-100. They made fewer than 50 of them per year, as I recall that Sr. Vagnoni, the chief engineer, chose to have a hand in building each run. The CE usually has more pressing matters to attend, that building amps. Nice folks all around. I still can't figure out what they're doing in this business!
