To me, that's actually a damn good idea ... why? Because it sparks interest where there hasn't been interest before ...
Someone who has a car, who's mildly interested but doesn't know what to do, nor how to do it. Face it, when it comes to this stuff there's A LOT of that and that's where everyone starts.
You gotta suck and work on getting better before you're good.

So, WHY NOT have a setup just like you guys just mentioned ... "Ever participated in a SPL event before? Have any idea what your stereo is capable of? Lets find out ..." $5.

You keep that going and you go from one person 'finding out' about they've got ... tips about how to get better ... they get to visually see WHAT is better and HOW AND WHY its better ...
There's so many positive reasons as to why such an idea would work and at the end of the day, I think it creates something for the future.

They go home, they try something out, come back and compete (that's what we're ultimately hoping for, correct?) but at the same time, creates a revenue as well.

It's just this idea would have to be operational with the right crowd at the right event.

How bout one of the attendants gets a new system installed in their car while they're at the show. $10/ticket, something like that. That'd be really cool.

Have a complete system ready. Nothing super fancy. Deck, front speakers, an amp, wiring - volunteers to install. If the items were bought at cost, or donated, it wouldn't be that big of an investment for the people promoting the event. People in attendance can buy tickets for the gear. The winning ticket gets the gear installed while they're at the show. Bad idea? lol

I didn't give it too much thought. Just believe the prospect of such a thing might draw more people.

These didn't have to be good ideas did they.

I like Yuli's idea of having a secondary testing station. My ***** is way too small to want to measure up against people who've spent more money and time enlarging theirs.
Seriously though, I'm one of the girls that might give it a whirl for $5, just for ***** and giggles.

I completelly agree with you guys, I have only been competing for 2 years, well 1 year really makin the shows, and I have noticed a few things about the shows.
1) Almost every show has the same faces, like you say its the same 10 ppl!
2) Lots ppl show up but a dozen compete!
3) Ppl scared of defeat, I personallt HATE losing, but u know what I went to worlds last year KNOWING I was gonna be last, I ended up second to last, but I had a blast, and would do it again in a second. I also drove back to BC twice this summer, 1 for my bestfriends first dbdrag he put on, and the 3x help. Thats like an 18hour drive with kids or something, and you know what, it was worth every penny! There needs to be more people that are willing to go that extra mile and make an effort, not just get on here and hype it up, then not show. Giving away wont draw them in, but it doesnt hurt. I enjoy the shows that are casual, more laid back, lots fun games and jokes.... wet T-shirt comps would help too
True DBDRAGGERS should just show up, without having to have there hands held! And the NOOBS(such as myself) should be more then happy to go and get beat by them, because you know what I learned WAY MORE from gettin my *** handed to me, then havin NO competition!
