The thought of a World Finals location in Canada is something I've been pushing for since I started out in the competition scene in 2002.

I see it being a possibility in the next few years. Although it is easier said than done.

For this to happen it would take support from judges, dbdrag, sponsors (stores, manufacturers, distributers, etc) and most importantly competitors.

When you take a look at the low turn-out of the 3x recently, that does not help the cause.

Hopefully in the future all of this can come together so we can see it happen.

That's all for now from the broken old man

yeah i agree all the big guys in canada for the most part are in the TO area you just have a much higher concentration there and a more active scene... i dont think its a matter of dedication its just simple numbers and when it comes down to it the numbers are in you area.

it's bigger then just that..once again to reiterate you can't just incorporate another sactioning bodies event into the WF of dB Drag to "defer the cost"
this is the dB Drag World Finals..
not the

"lets get some other competition formats in with us to make it bigger and cheaper for us" World Finals"

Like I said do me a favour and take a look at the stats and see just how many people qualified for the WF in the last couple of years.. take a count like I said and get back to me

And having it in the middle as you said "Winnipeg" is not workable.. it's not simply about the geographical center of Canada and so forth.. it's about getting it in a highly concentrated area of competitors that have the best chance of attending/qualifying for finals.

dont think I'm also saying this because I'm on the east coast as well but it's a fact that thats how it is in this case.
in 2007, 19 Canadians had received invitation to finals.

Finals needs to be in Ohio.

if there is a finals in Canada it needs to be Audiothunder but in October...in the international center, associated with a car show, and a huge event that charges entry to spectators. If world finals in Canada was as big as Audiothunder there would be no problem covering the cost.

Yuli, I see that 19 Canadians received the invite..
on the grand scale of things.. what 19 invites really?
is that going to make a Finals here in Canada?
out of the 19 fourteen replies with a Yes.. how many actually went could be less even.

I know what you're saying Tom about the whole car show thing but realistically there is nothing really that is around that time (Oct) that is really workable event wise.
Consdering there are not many venues that can accomodate the type of event that dB Drag is.

A valid point that was brought up is the whole "Support" from vendors, manufacturers and distributors. If a finals where to happen it would need to have the financial support from there. In reality that will "NEVER" happen.. lets be serious...

Canadian should just be happy with the fact that they have 7-8 hours to drive to drive to INDY (easterners) and not exactly how far it is to Nevada (westerners)

instead of the 12+ of the passed..yes I know the westerners have always had it worse..what can you do..

yeah indy is better than nashville at least. I also seriously doubt that there will ever be a Canadian finals. I know that Richard Wade is doing a great job getting some manufacturers involved but other than those few no reps really play a big role like USAMPS and Cerwin Vega used to in the old days. Perhaps TF One should sponser the canadian finals seems like most people are switching over to those woofers now anyway

Look, before we even think about getting Wayne to look at canada we need to start actually showing up to the shows. The turnout at the 3X for instance: don't you think Harris took a look at that or even his close judges. With the kind of turnout for a big show like that I'd be embarrassed to even post this thread. This thread is a joke cause everyone can say all they want but when push comes to shove the only people who will go to finals are the hardcore. To defend myself, the only reason why I haven't gone to finals last year or probably this year is that I'm still waiting on my waiver to cross. If the REST of you guys ever wnat a world finals here in Canada then you need to start doing something about it. GET OFF YOURS ASSES, STOP TALKING ON THIS FORUM AND GO THE THE SHOWS!!! By the "REST" I meant the big mouths on this forum who ask when the shows are and don't bother to go to them. Stop typing on the forum on a saturday and sunday asking for results, put some in your car and go to the shows. If anyone takes offense to this then you are the ones that I am talking about.

I'm sure one of the big reasons not many people bother with getting points for finals is because they know it's going to be way down south.

If it were closer I would be trying for dbdrag points, and I would be making it out to most of the shows, and the same goes for iasca.

o go the shows just because i like doing it. its fun for me this is my hobby and we have to work so hard just to get a show that when ones goes on we always have a good turnout.

I know out east its different you have more 2x and 3x then we have singles... you have several shows a month... we for the most part get one or two a month and we have to travel like crazy to make it to them.. so for us a big show has alot more meaning just because its a rare occurance... like at the beginning of the year we were all wondering if we would even have a 2x...

thats true we should probobly only have two multipoint shows per year in Canada, one double in June and one tiple at the end of August. That would likely maximize the turnout rather than having so many shows. Also CSPL is good and all but I really wish there was just dbdrag and bass race and everyone joined forces on that, by splitting efforts between CSPL, dbdrag and iasca it seems noone wins.
