Alarm help

Okay I just moved my alarm. And I hooked it all back up, but it doesn't seem to work properly.
I have to grab the antenna of the alarm or my remote won't turn it on. And that's really embarrassing when the alarm is located underneith the car.
Any suggestions?

Check your wiring

Chances are you have a poor ground connection..,unless the antenna wire got cut/damaged when you removed it ?
Question: Why mount the alarm underneath the car? Is it exposed to the elements? Can water somehow get into the alarm main unit?

The antenna might be a possability.
And it's actually mounted behind the front bumper/grill. so it should be fine. And I believe it's a waterproof unit (it's an all in one)

your reception problems could be that its mounted under and around all that metal effectivley killing any range you had hoped for. why mount the alarm outside?

Like I said it's an all in one. so the speaker and everything is all in one box. Just a cheapy I picked up for the time being.
And I didn't like how it looked under the hood. So I mounted in where it couldn't be seen.

relocating the alarm

At least get the antenna to lead out from the bumper area and away from major metal parts. That might help. I'd advise you to find an area inside the car like under the driver side dash or passenger side dash or even inside the back cushion of one of your front seats. If that is a cheap unit chances are its far from waterproof and will only last until the first time it rains or your first mud puddle you drive through. Condensation alone that builds up inside the unit on the board will destroy that unit within a few months.
