Car alarm problems
#1
Well, I know this is not directly related to audio, but I know there are probably some very knowledgable people here when it comes to alarm installs. I got a clifford matrix 1 installed around a year ago, has been working great, however today I went out to unlock my car, and the power locks opened up, but no 'beep beep' like I usually hear. I thought that perhaps the siren was dead or something, but when I hold down the unlock button on the remote, the alarm blazes away like it should. When I arm the alarm again, it does not beep either.
I tried to see if I could set off the alarm by banging on the window, and it looks like the alarm will not go off, no matter how hard I hit the car.
The car is a 2000 acura EL btw.. Alarm was installed by best buy (used to be an employee, so I got a discount)
Any ideas?

I tried to open the door while it was armed (well, supposed to be armed) and nothing happened, alarm did not sound.
(I just walked out to my car now to see about the LED).. It appears to be lit solid, and not flashing, regarless of whether or not it is armed or disarmed.
Funny thing is that I looked all over the dash and underneath it, and I can't see a valet switch anywhere. I'm pretty sure Best Buy had to install it right? Is it just a matter of hitting the button to return it into its normal operating mode? Funny thing is, i've never seen the switch before, yet it's been enabled somehow

The valet switch will be a "viper" black push button DEI piece... also check your owners manual for "valet through remote"..not sure if thats possible on the Matrix(been awhile)..anyone else?...
Actually not sure now on the type of valet ...but if you can't see it then it's not the "plain view" Cliffrod type!...

Yeah, I looked up the owner's manual online.. Found some good info. I must have put it into valet mode accidently with the remote because it has 'remote valet' capabilities.
Seems all you have to do is open the drivers door, and press "unlock, trunk-release, unlock" within five seconds to go in and out of valet mode.
Gonna go and try that out in a bit.. too cold outside right now though
