What is the best way to protect the system?

I know that Viper alarm systems are considered to be the best (some might argue, but most of us here agree that they are better than compustart). But is the car alarm the best way to protect a vehicle from malicious individuals? I tried looking up a service (similar to house alarms) where they monitor your vehicle from a head office. I understand that this would mean installing their GPS unit in your car in order for them to always know where the car is (which by itself raises a lot of privacy concerns) but nonetheless, I couldn't find such a service. The next best thing available is to buy a GPS unit yourself and see where the car is from a comfort of your home.

Another concern is the wireless signal hijacking. When you lock your vehicle with a remote key, an intruder can be sitting close-by and sniff the signal which he can then use to decrypt the obtained data in order to generate the same signal to unlock the car.

And lastly, some forums say that by installing a remote starter, messes up the wiring which might lead to a lot of electrical problems down the road.

I am really concerned about the safety of my vehicle so getting the best of the best is of utmost importance to me, which means that money is not an issue. So please share your thoughts and ideas.

Thanks

I heard of a system called boomerang that apparently works really well. They don't do anything for theft prevention, but they are really good for vehicle recovery. I believe it is a stand alone system and doesn't have an alarm. you'd need something else to cover window breaks, collisions, ect.
