Exclamation CCA, relocating, new office. ;)

Today we are writing to let you know about a discussion that has been taking place behind the scenes between Dukk & I, a discussion which has been very important to us and hopefully to you.

CanadianCarAudio for the longest time has been the forerunner for car audio discussion in Canada, period. When I first joined on 03-15-2004, I knew this was a special place and a place where I could participate in a hobby I was passionate about. When an opportunity came about to take over CCA, I jumped at it. I have been fortunate enough to work alongside Dukk & to see CCA run almost 7 years, to see new members join up and great vendors join the team; but the car audio landscape sure has changed in those years. Every year the core group of great users shrinks, people move onto hobbies and then to other clubs or just find something else that takes up their time, the community is shrinking. We don't have the luxury of being a catch all North American audio site, we have been focused on car audio in Canada and until maybe the last couple years it worked really well.

With that being said CanadianCarAudio.com will be closing down, kind of. We are planning to relocate. First off, those of you who have been site supporters will all get NEW decals for free when they come if you want them.
The current admin staff will be remaining and the old domain will be forwarding so we wont see much change there. The only change really to come is the domain name will be changing as well as the logo and some section structuring.

We are just looking to expand our horizons and see where it takes us. We are still one of the friendliest and knowledgeable sites out there for Car Audio. It is important for everyone who has been a part of the CCA legacy to know and understand this isn't about 'killing' what we had, this is about us making it live on forever.

In the next few days the new top level domain will become CarAudioForumz.com . We considered a few different names and acronyms but we wanted something simple and easy that still described what we were, the Z adds dbs.

Everyone is welcome to chime in, say what they must but please respect that after the admin staff discussing this for the last 2-4 months (yea, really, that long) it is something that will materialize even if people show displeasure.

How can you as a member make it better? Tell us what sections you want, what you are looking for, perhaps you feel you would make a great staff member because you enjoy the site and want to see it grow or???

That all being said. Thanks to everyone who has made CCA something worth fighting for. We have seen many members come and go, both good and bad. CarAudioForumz.com will certainly be neat to see grow.

Trust me, we put a lot of thought into this and the choice is not made lightly. I personally am extremely proud that our Canadian site is one of the top car audio sites out there.

BUT, for many car stereo is a fleeting hobby enjoyed in their youth and it falls by the wayside once life introduces other places to spend their money. In the last few years there have been many new places for the young to spend their money so the interest in car audio overall has declined and we do not see the new people coming in to replace those that are going out. Consider some of the juggernaut sites that have gone away in recent years.

To mantain the health of this board and to keep a great place for our both existing members and new ones to hang out, we feel that a more global name change is a much needed move. We have always accepted our friends from other countries but it is conceivable that someone in the States or wherever may shy away from here simply because of our name and this should hopefully make them feel more welcome. Everyone likes a busy board, so the more members we have coming in, the more fun it should be.

I can see why this is a tuff choice

This site existed because it is pretty much the only worth while canadian site for Car audio...but now not enough canadians are coming over so.....

If it stays like this it will die a slow death.

The alternative is to try and wrestle away some "market share" away from the big 2 (DYMA and CA).... There are currently a few that have tried doing this (amongst the others dissapearing or beeing baught out) and ultimately they aren't doing (MSS, EMSQ) very well IMO.

Best of luck.

Me personally? (if anyone cares) I came here ONLY because it is a canadian site ...content and expertise sure has gone down ...by doing this it will pretty much remove my remaining reason to stick around (not that me beeing here has any value).

so far so good.

Change is usually for the best and in this case I think it will be.

The only thing I dont like is all of the little icons under user names and the icons for the "quote, multi, reply". Personally I prefer a cleaner look.

You said our subscriptions will carry over from the old forum? My cp says I still have a current subscription but I get the Google adds and a message in the top right box under my user name to remove adds. Just wondering if it will correct over time or just some housekeeping that still needs to be done.

Derek

PS - I like the new layout
