225 w x 4 at 4 ohm is the powerhouse and when bridged into 4 ohms delivers 800 w/channel and into 8 ohms 400 w/ channel. Versatility was one of prime requirements in design of amp.
Channels 1+2 may run in flat mode
Channels 1+2 may run in high pass, low pass and band pass
Channels 1+2 can be switched to use the signal path from channel 3+4
The level control of channels 1+2 sets level for these two channels
Channel 3+4 can be switched to use signal from channel 1+2 inputs
Channel 3+4 may run in high pass, low pass or band pass
Channel 3+4 can be switched to SUB mode where a sub sonic filter and 40 hz equalizer are switched into circuit. This SUB mode used the mono mix of all 4 inputs.
If only two inputs are used the gain is reduced by 12 db
Each channel has its own LED to indicate channel clipping. When an LED flashed this indicates the onset of clipping. Typically one can accept about 1 to 1.5 db of clipping at low frequency.
New generation of IC chips from National Semiconductors is used in pre amp sections of both amps. They contribute almost zero THD and they are extremely low noise. Employs low gate charge part but these are rated at 50 amps each. Carrier frequency used in class D amps varies between 400-500 khz which prevents inter channel frequency beating.
Rated power is 250 watts x 4 into 4 ohm or 400w x 4 into 2 ohm.
Bridged power is 500w x 2 into 8 ohm or 800w x 2 into 4 ohm.
The pairs of channels are independently bridgeable.
Two or four input configuration.Channels 1+2 feature 24dB per octave Linkwitz Riley High and Low Pass crossovers.
Channels 1+2 can run in FLAT mode (Pre-amplifiers completely bypassed), High Pass, Low Pass or Bandpass.
Channels 3+4 feature 24dB per octave Linkwitz Riley High and Low Pass crossovers.
Channels 3+4 can run in FLAT mode (Pre-amplifiers completely bypassed), High Pass, Low Pass or Bandpass.
Channels 3+4 in addition feature SUB MODE which introduces a 24dB per octave variable subsonic crossovers and a 40Hz constant Q equalizer.
DREADNOUGHT Is well suited to running front stage only 3 channel systems
Level controls accommodate input levels up to 8.0v RMS.
Pre-amplifiers utilize a fully isolated power supply for zero ground loops.
Pre-amplifiers drive the main amplifiers in a fully balanced mode.
Class D amplifiers utilize high-speed high current low gate charge MOSFETs.
Fully regulated power supply delivers power independent of battery voltage.
There are a total of thirteen regulated power supplies.
The power supply utilizes twelve 110 amp MOSFETs in a source follower configuration for maximum bandwidth.
Low ESR 105°C capacitors are used in the power supply.
