2nd battery or upgrade alternator

ok i have a larger battery and a capacitor installed on my sound system at the moment i am running 4 gauge wire 1200 watt kenwood amp with 2 10 inch sony explod subs mono blocked together the system sounds great there is no extra noise through it it is all clear sounding the only problem i am getting is i am still getting my headlights dimming on a heavy bass load even with the capacitor and the larger batter now my alternator is only running 70 amps ( that is the amperage of the stock alternator ) i dont know if there is a formula to tell if i need to upgrade the alernator or if i can run a 2nd batter system to stop the headlight dimming ?

I remember when I had this problem in my supra. I put a 140 amp alternator and problem solved . No bigger batteries or anything. I was running around 1700wrms.

A larger battery and caps are not going to do much if anything. They are really for show cars that like to use electronics while the engine is not running.

that is what i thought i would have to do i was looking at some alternators i can get a 90 amp alternator from a camry that is suppose to bolt right up to my 1990 celica my other choose is what i think is a little high for the car it self a 170 amp powermaster alternator i only need around 90 to 120 amps to stop the dimming so i think i will try that thanks sweetlikechutny

Unless there is a big price difference, the extra amps are nice to have.

I had a bad issue with this as well, was so bad my transmission would hang up in gears when bass was maxed, i added a custom cranked alternator and it was better but still had the dimming lights to an extreme, i added an isolator and 2nd yellow top and am now running double the power i was and dont have any problem what so ever, plus is nice to now i can add and not have to worry about power supply, also notice the bass has alot more "punch" to it after the 2nd battery install. With all the things in cars now a days that demand power supplies its better to have more than less .
