amp going into protect mode

hey guys, im having problems with my amp going into protect mode when volume is high, the amp is a Sony XM-1252GT and the sub is a AudioBahn AW1208T. now ive had troubles with this sub for a long time, it makes a rattling noise when i put the bass up a bit. when the volume is really low it doesnt rattle but when i put it up just a bit it starts to rattle and crack. i have it wired at 2 ohms and its bridged in the amp. it did the cracking with my other amps as well. what could be wrong with this?

sounds like the sub has been overheated (played too loud ?) and the voice coilheated up and is damaged... so what happened to your old amp?

if its a 2 chanel amp and its bridge to 2 ohms, i dont think it can handle that ohm load.

That amp is 2 ohm STEREO stable and 4 ohm mono.
You are overworking the amp by running it 2 ohm mono.

Likewise John Vroom is right. It sounds like you've damaged the voice coil. It that is the case, it likely will give you a different resistance as well.

Perhaps it is time for a different sub to match your amp before this amp just stops working as well.
