Amp Killing Battery MTX TC4004
My friend has a simple system in his 1971 Mustang Mach 1 SCJ. The problem is his amp is killing the battery. It is a 4 channel MTX TC4004. The amp constantly draws 0.018A. This was with just the power (4 ga), ground (4 ga) and speaker wires hooked up (4 infinity 2-ways, no sub). He also had a Stinger 1 farad cap which he disconnected for some reason. We hooked that up and the cap drew 0.850 amps to start, then dropped slowly to a constant 0.125A. My question is is there a problem with the amp or could there be something else at play here? Also, would a 0.018A draw be enough to kill a battery in 2-3 days?

Buy a better battery? Or check to see that the remote is not hooked up to a constant 12v source. That happened when a friend put a system in his Malibu. He claimed it was because it was too loud. It was really because he was not good at listening.
If there are only constant sources available then consider a switch.

Are you sure the amp is switching off and on properly? I had a similar problem with a MTX amp where the remote 12V from the HU was not turning the amp on and off properly. Fixed this by using a relay powered by direct 12V and using the HU remote to trigger the relay with the output connected to the remote on the amp.

Maybe he's using high-level (speaker) in puts instead of low-level (RCA) and it uses that as a turn-on as well?
If not, something is fishy; it should not turn on w/o a remote turn on signal. In that case them amp requires repair.
If it did have a remote lead and was drawing current I would second the idea of using a relay to turn it on/off instead of the HU's remote lead.
Let us know how this turns out; interesting!

The funny thing is, the amp is turning off. The red light goes out and evrything. It functions completely normal other than the 0.018 ampere draw when it is turned off. The wires he is using do look like RCA's and he is sure they are.

How solid is his electrical install? I relocated my battery in the trunk and had a similar issue late last year. I put the battery back in the front, and it went away. (I'm afraid the wire may have been shorting to ground so now I use it for my F-R batt ground cable)
