East AMP REPAIR/ADVICE NEEDED! Will pay $$$

Hello,

I have and OZ Audio 2000.1 Amplifier. I had it in my car and this is the way it was wired in.
Sub out from the deck were going into the line driver/bass enhancer out to the amp and the remote bass **** back to the front under the deck.

Now what happened was that my subs suddenly stopped playing and there was smoke coming out of the bass enhancer and fried it out completely. then, the rca's on the amp were heating up, then the bass **** in the front started to smoke and completely burnt out. now obviously this is a signal issue regarding the RCA's.

My Amplifier is now going into protect mode and i checked all the MOSFETS. they look great to me. I powered it up randomly one day, and the amp was NOT going into protect and i noticed that the 4 circular components (dont the the real term for them) Were heating up quite a bit.

I Am located in Toronto. If there is anyone who is able to fix this or give me any advice, i dont mind paying for your valuable time in repairing this issue.
OR call me at 647-770-6642 if you know anyboody who is good in amplifier repair, please let me know.

Thank You

Are you talking about the power transformers (two really big ones) are getting hot? Where exactly is getting hot? A pic of the area with parts circled would be perfect.

I'm definitely no amp repair pro but if it IS the power transformer, you may have a shorted or open FET. Also check the associated resistors and rectifier diodes.

Let me know how that goes, and we will take it from there.

No the transformers are fine. Its the 4 other circular ones in the 5th picture. one random day when i powered it up, the amp was running without the protect light and i had a chance to see what else was happening. So i noticed those 4 components heating up even when the gain was down. Thanks for the quick response!

From looking over the amp, all the resistors and diodes seem to be reading fine.

Those four circular things are the inductors for the output filter. When testing it do you have anything connected to the amp's output terminals?

No, There is nothing connected other than a ground, remote and 12V input. What should i go about testing now and how would i test these inductors?

Thank You

The inductors are fine I'm sure. They are just coils of wire. They are hot because a lot of current is going through them. How long does it take for them to get hot? Do you have a multimeter?

Yes i do. I am an installer myself. i am pretty familiar with most electrical terms. it takes about 10-15 minutes.

Thanks

That's longer than I expected. I'm guessing one or more of the caps around them have failed and are shunting current to ground. See if any of them are getting hot too. Check if any show any signs of internal pressure such as bulging end caps.

Like DeadlySones said you may have a shorted output FET. To check remove power from the amp and measure the resistance between the output terminals. This is not a perfect test but if you measure low resistance like 10 ohms we will know you have a problem. If not then...

The modulation circuit may have failed resulting in oscillation on the output. This is a very dangerous condition for your woofer(s). If you have a true RMS multimeter measure the output voltage with the amp powered on but with no input signal. Let us know what you find.
