amp shut off
Hi there i have an mtx 4 channel amp that was working fine a few days ago.. Few days ago i crank up the volume it would play for a bit and go into protect mode n come back and go back in and so on n so on.. But at low volumes it works fine. What can this problem b?.

my vote as well...check to make sure the load your amp is seeing isn't lower than the amps capabilities, also if your gains are too high and you're clipping the shiznit out of it, it can go into protect. does it have airflow around it?....

sorry about that.. i just checked it, and its the thermal light..the sub is in the trunk.. soo im guessing it got enough room to breathe. But i dont knoe why it started outta no where, it was working fine... thanks for all the responds.. a
Based on the fact that you ran 4 sets of wires individually (wired them in parallel), that would make it a 1ohm load not a 4ohm load, and that my friend is your problem. Your amp is more than likely NOT 1ohm stable. Wire it for a 2ohm load and you will be OK. Edited to add: "fix this before you cook your amp".
Try turning your gains down, even a little too low and see if you can reproduce the thermal shutdown.
