Is it bad to use different speaker brand

Stupid me didn't realize that the camry 2004 takes 6.5 in the doors and 6.9 in the rear. I got four 6.9 and now need 6.5. I will keep the JL Audio for the back and want to get the Alpine Type R for the front. Is this bad?

why not get matching JL 6.5" for the front? It's not bad, but tonally the same brand/model will sound similar to each other and the sound should be more balanced. I always try to match drivers in a system to remove potential problems like one tweeter being too bright or a set of mids sounding different in the vocal range...usually when you use the same models in different sizes, you avoid those issues.

JL Audio give you good sound quality but there really nothing wrong have rear speaker or front different. As long it same ohm on the coil

Personally I've had a set of Energy 6.5" in the front then put an Alpine 6.5" set in the rear and didn't like the end sound at all with them all amp'd. it was quite noticeable but that could be just those two brands together. I was much happier with it after switching out the Alpines for another Energy set.

It only depends whatyou like the sound of. Because most sound comes from in front of you, the rear fill is less important, and I would personally never worry about matching brands F-R, as long as you;re happy with the sound.
In all my installs I've never had matching front stage & rears, and there have been a few epic sounding setups

do you mean 6x9?
I have a 96 toyota camry and it sucked trying to fit new speakers in. Here is what I did for the fronts....
I bought a plastic toilet flange and mounted it in the hole in the door. I screwed it in nice and tight. then I screwed the speaker into the flange.... then put some sound deadening material around it. I then mounted the speaker grille on it and screwed that into the flange to make it look good.
it sounds great, no rattling or vibrations
cheap way to do it and no one will ever see the flange

cheers and hope this helps
