Or tap on the cone lightly and if you hear a rattle then the VC has come apart most likely.

It rattles but when i put pressure on the cone it stops. I have it out of the box now is there any way to visually figure it out or should i just take it to a shop and get them to test it?

look for loose parts. leads, terminal's, spider, check everything you can touch.

When i move the cone/basket up and down it makes a clicking sound. Im fairly new to this but i checked the other one and it doesnt make that same noise. No loose parts, visually everything looks identical to the good one.

plug your sub into your pc speakers and hit up a tone test, or hook them up to your home theater system in your house and test tone it while you figure out what it is.. you don't need to be outside for that.

Alright i hooked it up to my pioneer system and it does the same thing it did in my truck, on a lower scale obviously. The rattling/clicking is definately coming from under the cone/basket. Im not sure if thats what its called but its coming from where i cant see. Whats the chance this will be cheap to fix, or should i just go buy another one. Thanks guys.

sub

Can you hear a rubbing noise when you puch the cone in? If not, it is possible that one of the tinsel leads has a bad contact somewhere and this could also result similar outcome. If it does, then you may not have alot of choice but to either buy a new one.
