Factory Trouble

I am trying to fix my friends 04 accord stereo. It is the factory in-dash 6 cd.
The problem is that the unit will no read any cd's that are put into the deck.
Is this a common problem. Should I tell him to start looking for a new deck??

Thanks

Also when a disc is inserted the display reads "NO DISC"

Sounds like a very dirty laser to me. It might be a very difficult job to attempt doing yourself. Either take it to a shop or replace it with an after market unit (best option).

if it doesnt read the cleaning disk will not work. go to a tv repair shop of some sort and they will open it up and clean it with a q tip and alcohol or maybe some other stuff that they have. if that doesnt work its a gonner.

For the amount of time/effort you put into cleaning it, you might as well replace it.
Get something with USB support, that'll give you LOTS of music to listen to.
