good set up?

Hey im new to this site and just wanted to ask a question. I picked up some subs and an amp off my buddy about a year or so ago and was wondering if its any good.

ultimate T3-500D amp
2 10" alpine type r subs
and a ported felt box

got all of this for $300.

Also when i heard the system in his car it sounded a lot better. I currently have it in my 2000 nissan maxima SE. Could this be due to the settings, or the way it was hooked up? And he had a lot smaller car and i know thats one of the reasons it sounded better. But i Think it could sound better than it already does. Any tips?

Thanks Dsmith.

which way do you have the subs facing? and yeah, it could also be due to the settings on both the amp/deck

You could do a google search about (setting amplifier gain) and try this yourself. Or you could walk in to almost any car audio shop and ask for help and im sure they will help you out, with or without fee(shop depending)
Did you have this installed at a shop ? maybe take it there and ask them to tweek it or ya?
