help!! new car, tons of wiring surprises....

k so i just bought my 00 cavy and seen an alpine deck so i was like sweet then found out there were 6x9 in the back so i was like sweeeet then i found alpine 6.5 in the door so i was like awsome!! but all ran off the deck so im out there lookin and figuring it out to wire in a amp for them and im just finding all sorts of goodies, please help me with this haha ....

second i found these long wires all wrapped in elecrical wire and to plugs at the end... one small plug only 2 wires... a white and white with black strip says front left comes from the big plug.. then the other a big plug and it says "Delphi" on it... looks like the wires go up to the HU ....could this be for a satellite radio?

Run your own decent quality larger sized speaker wire when you add the amp. Problem solved.

Yup, when you install the amp just put in your own wiring (18AWG or maybe 16AWG). That way, if you ever have a problem, you'll know it's YOUR wiring, and you won't have to tear apart someone else's wiring to figure out whats wrong.

yea i bought some 18 gauge wire, i was just looking and i found what looked like 16 gauge running out to the doors and thought maybe that was for the speakers ...wasnt though.... but im more curious about these other wires i found .... they come down from the HU area and then the wires are just stuffed under the dash and they go no were, they have to connectors on the end .... im curious to what they are for.......

sorry for the confusion, i was asking another question in my original post but figured it out and edited it out .... so now im really just asking anyone if they have a idea what this "Delphi" connecter is for.... like ive got a alpine deck so i was thinking maybe he had some Delphi XM radio processor down there and maybe took the main unit but left the wiring.... does delphi make xm radio this?

there is a small 2 pin connector and then a larger one like 10+ pin connector...

i guess i should have done that haha, ive gotta take the dash off when i have some time so ill be able to trace it more i think, then ill take pics.

P.S another question... there are alpine type s 6.5 coaxials in the front and the one is real bad for this.... the like cone hits the tweeter and makes an annoying smacking noise.... are they screwed? because the are like 220 or 250 watt and they are running off the deck getting what 11wRMS so if i were to hook up a amp they would be getting even more power .... i dont know ive got macrom components to put in when i have time anyways....

..... i feel dumb asking questions.... i always go ask a question here and then either figure it out myself or get a answer that is the same as what i thought would be the right thing...or i assume that people will just know what i want to figure out and it willl just be that easy haha

My last car was a 97 cavalier. It had an extra multipin connector at the deck that was apparently for the optional 6 pack cd changer. The car was made with the "Premium" factory stereo in it, but i wouldn't pay for it so the dealer took it out before i got the car.

I didn't use ANY of the factory wiring, Except for switched ACC, and that was only for a relay. I installed ALL my own power, fuses, ground, speaker wire, everything. never had a problem. (Other than a squished rca cable took me months to find).

Also, if your amp has any real power, go with 14 ga wire. Get the super flex stuff. Canadian tire has the proper (1/4, 3/16 or 1/8) push on terminals for 14 ga, that will fit your speakers.

thanks tom, as for wire i already bought some 18 gauge when i was in the city and i think that should be good since i am only running 220 watt MAX up front and 250 Max in the back and i dont plan on upgrading any bigger. And the amp im using is only 60x4 rms i think or 90x4 cant remember off hand

The big long wire with the plugs on it etc that looks like its wrapped in electrical tape is your wiring harness. 00+ Cavis need a special harness to keep the door chimes etc working after installing an aftermarket hu.
