More power = more SQ IMO.

A speaker can handle much more then it's rated power if you use a high pass xover.

I choose an amp buy only these criteria:
price
power
footprint
features
asthetics

The rest is hooboo jubu IMO

so far i've spent some pretty good money on speakers, more then what I first set out to go for and for one reason , i like all types of music. Quality of sound is close to being number 1 on my list along with price and then power.... the power (*****) issue is what concerns me right now . my audio guy says i'll have plenty of juice and great sound quality with the lrx 4.5 , he says he has seen his fair share of blown set-ups due to too much power.... who to believe and trust with my money ??? one thing is for sure , i would hate to buy amps and then realise they dont fit my needs ,especialy at these prices .... i don't want my ears to bleed but i do want to be wrapped with the feeling of music around me.

Too much power is only a concern when the amp isn't setup incorrectly. Let me give you an A/B comparison. I used the Audison LRx 4.5 then moved up to the VRx line. I lost 2db of output with the exact same rated power. The following year I moved to Arc Audio SE 4100 amp. They are rated 65x4 the output was unbearable. I'm now using 100x2 zapco DC ref amps and the volume is about 2db more but the liveliness of the amps are just nuts. IMHO Arc, Zapco are in my top 5 amps for many reason. Audison Vrx is around 8th in my books. LRx is not an SQ AMP IMHO - the blue series didn't sound great - maybe the black series does.

ok so you had the previous generation of the lrx 4.5 if i understand correctly . and what do you mean by: Arc Audio SE 4100 amp. They are rated 65x4 the output was unbearable ? is this a good or bad thing ? you mean it was too loud in some way ? i've never seen the audison vrx serie....

Yup the blue series. I've been told the PCB board on the black series were re-designed - until I hear one first hand - I doubt audison did anything except change the power coat color.

The Arc Audio SE 4100 Arc Audio was too loud for me. Just goes to show you the rated/listed power is deceiving.

Hybrid Audio Technologies L4 full range no tweeter! I did run the L1proSE passively until recently. CDT ES06 for midbass.
