JVC KD-R300 problems

So I have just installed a never used JVC KD-R300, it works great and I absolutely love it.

My problem is that the settings reset everytime I turn my car off. I'd like this to go away, I have a feeling that its a wire called the "accessory wire" I have yet to find out what this is meant for. I really don't get what "accessory" it would be for.

A co-worker of mine told me something about a "devil wire"? I guess this is just a nickname but the wire he describes is "a black wire on every setup" which is usually the ground, and there is no way I'm disconnecting that.

Any suggestions?

what kind of car did it go into, and does it reset the setting and the clock or just the settings?

on rear of deck red wire goes to a ignition key controled 12 v wire and the yellow goes to a constant 12v feed wire..

most likely this is the problem..
constant 12v feed maintains your settings memory...

re-check and let us know your findings
