kenwood bt100

hello all i have a Kenwood KDC-x991 and the bluetooth adapter (kca bt100) the bluetooth works fine once you register it, but if you turn the car off the memory is lost. next time you turn the car on it will not save the phone that was in it, so it will not auto connect. I have tried this with a couple of phones with the same result. now if I leave the car on but disconnect the phone and add another one, I can then choose which phone to use and it will automatically connec to that phone. But if you turn it off, it will loose all of the phones that have been registered with it. Does anyone know if this would be a head unit problem or the bluetooth unit problem. ??? HELP!!

Thanks
