My Kenwood KDC-X589 turns off when I go to enter the security code. Worked fine untill I changed my alt in my car. Hooked the battery back up, entered the code and it just shuts off. Any ideas?

code should be right, I have even tried KCAR ing it.

 

KCAR - what do you mean - did you initially set the code when you purchased the deck?

 

kcar(5227) is the generic code for kenwood, if entered with the remote I am told. When I enter it that way it does the same thing. Yes I entered the code a few days after I hooked it up. If it is the wrong code for some reason than what?

 

so does anyone have any ideas?
