New amp powers down at high volume
Hey all,
So I bit the bullet and bought a new JBL 1400.1 amp to run my 2 premiere 12's.
However, as I turn it up, I have the gain set to 50% on the amp, have the deck sub out set to 0(50%) volume.
So when I turn the volume of the system up, 25 all good, 26 good, 27 good, 28 depending on the song and frequency of the bass, it powers down after 30 seconds, then powers back up, pounds a couple more times, and powers down again.
I went out and checked, and the actual power light on the amp, and everything shuts down. Doesn't go into protect or anything like that.
Haven't gotten to putting a dmm on it yet to see what the voltage drops are when it shuts down.
Little more background info, installed brand new 4guage power/ground wire when I installed the amp, with 150amp fuse.
But even with the original 60amp fuse that came with the wiring kit, I couldn't blow the fuse before it powered down and the amp has 4x40amp fuses on it. So blowing a single 60amp shouldn't have been a problem.
Things to check? Ideas?
Thanks for your time

Connections are good. My old 800watt rms clarion amp worked perfectly fine. Until I blew it. To the point as soon as I power it up the fuses blow lol.
My truck battery is leaking acid and is in need of replacement. Could that be my issue?

Update, new battery installed. Same problem.
Tried turning up the gain on the amp, same issue at lower volumes now.
Going to put a dmm on the amp tonight, and see what voltage readings I get when it happens. Will update once data collected.

Update, finally got a dmm on it, and half the time it shuts down, half the time it goes into protect now. But it does it after it draws down to 13.5 volts on main power in.
Remote wire is 13.5 normal drops to about 13 when it shuts down/protect.
Going to buy a 2farad cap(40 bucks) and put on a second ground tomorrow. See if that helps.
The lights on the amp even fade when the bass hits. As do my headlights. BADLY!
