My alpine type r 6x9 speakers put my alpine pdx-f4 amp in protection at half volume.

-Alpine type r 6x9 speaker is connected to Alpine pdx-f4 amp: protection
-Alpine type r 6x9 speakers connected to a "different amp": works fine
-Alpine pdx-f4 amp connected to a "different speaker": works fine

Overall, i am just curious why my alpine type R speaker will not function properly with my alpine pdx amp. The speaker sounds a little empty and does not play to its fullest when connect to the pdx amp and put the amp in protection at half volume.

any ideas?

 

Do the 6x9's sound full and correct on your other amp? Do u have correct gauge power and ground wire and a secure ground connection to bare metal on your PDX? Did u try the speakers on the other two channels of the amp? What are the VC impedances measured with a DVOM.

I'd lean toward a problem with the amp assuming all install related issues are correct.

-I tried speakers on all channels but still same problem.
-speakers impedance is 4 ohms on the DMM

I've been trying to trouble shoot this so long, the only thing that it looks like it could be is that the speakers just don't function with this amp. But they are both high end alpine products
