running zapco 360.4 at 2 ohm mono

ok so temporarily i am going to be running half my amp at 2 ohm bridged and the other half 4ohm stereo, im wondering if the 2 ohm mono could hurt the amp? im waiting for new new sub amp to come in and already sold my old one. the mono side is running 2 kappa perfect 10's wired down to the 2 ohm.

i already have it wired like this and works but i haven't played it loud.

It SHOULDN't hurt the amp but there's no gurantee either. Chances are that the amp will go into protect mode rather than crap it's pants.

Zapcos are good amps so I would say you're ok. Most likely that's just going to get really hot if you crank it up.

p.s. Let me know if it dies a silent death or if it goes KABOOM!! LOL

My only real suggestion is if this is a temporary thing, why not wire the subs to an 8 om load and protect your amp?

hmmm well i have pushed it abit and it switched off (or into protect) so i turned the volume down and it came back on, i cant go to 8 ohm because the wiring is inside the box and i cant get the subs out, i guess i could put the 4 ohm load on 1 stereo channel?

not sure what you're asking really... you don't have a 4 ohm load, you've got a 2 om load that you can't change at the moment? You could run one sub to each channel in stereo as well but that's the same as 8ohm bridged and you can't get at the wiring.

right sorry, typed the wrong number, meant 2 not 4. i cant pull the sub cause i glued and screwed it in to make sure it was sealed and i dont feel like ruining my box if i dont need to. coming out of the box i only have the 2 wires for + and - . soo, would just putting that on 1 channel be ok would be my question. then i get 50W to 2 subs oh well its just temporary.

I can't see an issue with putting a 2 ohm load on either the right or left channel. I assume you're giving it a mono signal anyhow so that should work.
