This thread is destined to start a flame war on this site.

The best capacitor, of course, will be the most expensive one.....

I bought the cheap ones on sale and they work just fine. I have a 1 and a 2F.

Thumbs up Agreed

^^ agreed x2
The brand name doesn't matter as much as the rating
look for a high voltage capacitor anything from 14V and up will do nicely.
If your total power (of the amp connected to the capacitor) is more than 500 Watts up to 1 Kw., than get a 1 farad, it will suffice very nicely. anything over 1000 watts.., well get out the plastic.

Word of advice, if you want your capacitor to last, don't lay it on it's side.
As the cooling fluid will settle with gravity, and the top layer of conductor, in the capacitor will not be cooled.

Question SOS....SOME! HELP ME....Whats the Best Capacitor to get????

Thanks E.C i will remember that.

Now i know u guys said, get one with 14.4v and up? I seen caps that have 24V is this good? with my setup do u think i should get 2 seperate 1.5F or a single 3F? whats the pros and cons of each setup.

And....what about name brand, i heard Stringer, Tsuami caps was good? any others u can recommend...some vender said i should look at caps that had a low ohm??? no idea what he was talkin bout... what do u guys think.

Also this maybe be off topic just curious for dampening mats>>
between: 1.Dynomat Xtreme, 2.B-Quiet Ulimate, 3.Brownbread which would u rate the best when comparing the most bang for ur buck.. u can vote 1,2,3.

Thanks guys....

Capacitor: Dont go for cheap Sht, wont get u anywhere. I have a tsunami 1.2F and I LOVE IT. its been nothing but good to me. Very high quality for the cost, 2 positive 0/4 guage and 2 negative 0/4 guage inputs. beep warning. looks so sharp it'd draw blood.

Deadining: I only have experience with B-Quiet. I liked it PLUS do you want to support those gun toting hicks to the south or do you wanna support the land of the free beaver... ...that was a dirty joke. But seriously keep it in da north

I heard some good things about Tsuami caps, n other caps u think are good?. do u know where i can get one. Im in Toronto.

I'm also looking for either 100-150sq of Dynnomat or b-quiet Ultimate, if anyone can recommend where i can get one. locally prefred but not neccessary.

Caps are all about low ESR. Low ESR good, high ESR bad. Other than that, there isn't much difference in a car audio application. IMO they are still a huge waste of money in most applications, but that can be debated forever.

If you're going to have them, keep them very close to the amp. I would rather get a high output alternator any day tho.
